Yep. Of course manufacturing has been sent overseas for decades, companies want higher profits, inexpensive labor, and consumers want cheap products.

Though, Tacomas haven’t gotten any cheaper moving production to Mexico.

Still think if one is going to be proud and fly the US flag, they should be supporting US manufacturing, like Tesla or Rivian. Of course if you mention such a thing people get upset.

Heading to see family in Detroit, grew up there. You still don’t see as many foreign vehicles in the area. A lot of cool Broncos- Jeeps.
When I lived there I was a radical, I drove an International Scout.:D

Never been in a union but they are hiring like crazy, skilled trades/ auto workers. Sure brought a lot of Americans out of poverty.

Yeah, just showing how it is where I grew up. I don’t agree with it, since I am not super patriotic as I stated before, hell….have been driving Toyotas for over 30 years.

Do think if people want to be ultra patriotic as they put on to be, they should put their money where their mouth is and support as many Made in America products as possible, otherwise it is just hypocrisy.

Haven’t been back East for 25+ years, don’t know if it is still like that. I surely got a lot flack for buying “Jap Crap”.
Grandfather was a Union Electrician, eventually quit, he and my father started their own construction business that I grew up in, I am no longer in construction but still self employed, it isn’t easy however there is a lot more freedom to do what you want. Is working for yourself more patriotic than a union??? Dunno…

flag mounts because i had the scrap pipe and chain links, and it was a fun little welding project to learn how to weld on. i rarely use them.

but because nation/state flags seem to only make everyone go crazy, i don't fly them.

i've got 3 different ones now. jolly wrenches, 'have a good day matey'(cheap, i don't know how long it'll last), and the firefly independents/browncoat flag, which is almost too obscure to fly without feeling the need to explain it all the time...

I got a collection of Expedition flags, got them mounted to an old CB antenna I had and they hold well at 70mph (accidentally left them up when getting on the highway one time). Mounts to a quick release CB antenna mount

When I was growing up, "Jap Crap" was anything at the Five -n- Dime type stores. Back then, cheep was junk and was not the same as inexpensive. IMO being more or less patriotic has little to do with your profession, military aside.

I grew up in the deep south so anything Japanese was considered to be a cheap shitbox compared to the proud American Union strong trucks making 200 hp from a leaky 7L engine.
