Nothing special just group 24 deep cycle batteries they have worked fine for me. You can get carried away with things like AGM batteries etc that's up to you the pair on my camper are 4 years old and still working fine. If you feel you need two batteries when you hook them together strap them so that the + wire is connected to one battery and the - is connected to the other not both + and - to the same battery this ensures that they will get an equal charge.

A 100 watt panel and controller are all running around $150 for decent ones so if someone wants $90 it's probably poor quality. You can look for a ISO 9000 certificate that helps. Most panels are pretty rugged they are going to be on a roof for 25 years or more. A small panel makes small power so if someone has a smaller panel and says it makes 100 watts they are full of it. They can be tested with an amp meter but you'll have to have your hands on it. I would just go with something from a reputable source I frankly don't remember who made mine without going to look. Big box stores have panels but they are expensive they don’t sell enough of them because in most states in order to get a tax break it’s not a do it your self-project.

    a bunch of new/used parts....and some skids.
Has anyone figured out how to mount these fridges in their beds and prevent dust going into the fans/compressors? I noticed the ARB fridges are built to handle dust but I haven't read anything about the Whynter and dust.

Any pics of how you had it in the back seat? Running a single or dual battery setup?

No point in mounting a fridge when I can't drive and drink beer at the same time.

I have a SnoMaster TR42 installed on a Dometic fridge slide that I found on Walmart.com for about $150. I installed a Renogy 100W solar panel to the OEM roof rack which goes through an MPPT solar controller, then to the factory battery. Single battery setup. Also installed a DC panel in the bed of the truck so I can plug the fridge into that. The fridge runs 24/7 set at 36 degrees. Battery is always charged. It's nice having cold beverages and such without dealing with ice. I'd say it's my favorite investment on my truck. I really need to get to taking some good photos of the install.

I run a Engel 80 off two 6volt (creating 12volt) Crown batteries flooded lead acid 235ah. Nothing off the truck, no alternator hook up nothing. Just 2 batteries wired with 6 foot of cable in bed. I keep batteries charged till I get ready to go. Load the fridge and plug it in 120volt. The day I leave for camping unplug 120volt and plug to batteries 12volt.
I get 16 days out of it on hot days temp camping 28-34 degree Celsius. And 18 days on a bit cooler days temp 22-25 degrees Celsius. Temperature in fridge hovering around 0 to +2 degree Celsius. Next thing I'm adding is solar. No noise, no watery mess, no spoiled food, only cold drinks and good food. I also have a smaller cooler made by Engel as well, I think it's called deep blue. It holds 2 bags of crushed ice and lasts about 6 days with opening and closing an average of 6-10 times a day. I only use it for drink ice. Next stop I fill it again.

I bought this one, which was recommended to me by Matt at ************** (also on TW) who sold me my dual battery kit. He also runs this panel:

I just bought and installed that panel on my truck. So far I am really happy with the Renogy panel, but I would go with just the panel and get an MPPT charge controller instead of the the one in that kit.
Here is the one I went with: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00U3MK0CI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Do some google searches on the difference an MPPT charge controller can make. Especially if you live in a place that doesn't get full sun all the time.
