As someone who deals with car accidents on a regular basis, those “powers that be” you speak of did us a favor with airbags for our knees. Its a simple reason..... it makes sense.

Remember if you can'tdraw it and fire it in under three seconds it's useless. The center pocket is my holster. Shield 9mm fits in there perfect. Nothing to open. Nothing to fiddle with. 20190119_134608.jpg

No shit. Always cringing waiting to see who that person is. And always with the smugness.

You drilled through the plastic and used what length bolts? Thought about this, but figure I have to unclip my holster anyway to sit comfortably in the seat. Might as well take them both off and stash it next to my hand.

Edit: IWB appendix carry. Used to have the 22. Would yours fit between the brake handle and console?

So the idea of keeping one in the chamber seems to be a much more popular one than the draw-then-rack philosophy, and I'd love to know why. What is the t-minus 2 second threat scenario where situational awareness fails and purchasing cover/distance is not an option? (I'm sincerely curious, not trying to challenge or debate.)

Anyways, back to the topic. One thing to consider is just how much of the drivers seat is visible when entering/exiting the vehicle. You can see from the center console all the way to the pedals when walking behind a vehicle with the door open. I spot at least one firearm a week when crossing the
mall or grocery parking lot. I don't mean to, I'm not actively gawking at who's climbing out of the minivan, but sometimes that nickel plate just catches the sunlight. So if you aren't taking it with you, it might be inviting a vehicle burglary whenever you're in the store. Food for thought.

Why carry a firearm that isn’t ready to be fired? I can’t think of any advantage to carrying without a round chambered but can think of a lot of disadvantages.

Really like the looks of this but unfortunately useless for me - lefty. Need to get a right side drive Tacoma and I’ll be all good. I’m in California anyway so not an option anyway.

Me personally? I fear accidental discharge more than I fear a surprise attack. I've never had either, and I like to think that I'm smart enough to keep my booger hook away from the bang switch, but statistics say it's the more common of the two scenarios.

That’s prevented by proper training and using a holster that protects the trigger.

I’ll be honest early on in my acquiring of firearms I had an accidental discharge. Fortunately the only thing hurt was the wall but it scared the crap out of me and taught me a valuable lesson. If it’s in the house there is no round in the chamber. No one is going to break in my house so fast I can’t retrieve my pistol and put one in the chamber. If I carry I have one in the chamber of my shield but I always have the safety on and practice at the range taking the safety off.

    Never say never.
I have 10. All with a round in the chamber, in different rooms/vehicles.
    Training is a real thing.
And I'd rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

The airbag will push that gun into your body if you mount it in the location that you indicated. If the vehicle places your knees too close to any hard objects directly ahead of your knees that airbag would do quite a lot to let you walk away.

How's the VP9? I was going for one but my wife was able to score me a deal on a M9A1 from a small gun shop she previously worked at.
