Hello so I’m gonna be going to check out a 2nd gen Tacoma camper shell and gonna try to fit it on my 1st gen. My bed is a 01 bed though I’m not sure if that will matter but. How do you guys attach the shell to the bed? 1st gens don’t have rails so

The 2nd gens use the rails. They may sell the brackets that go under the lip of the bed sides to hold it down. My son has a ‘03 Ranger and he got brackets from the local Leer dealer. You might want to check the manufacturer of the shell to see what the have for brackets and to see if that shell would work. Good luck and post pics if you get it!

Measure closely before you buy. Insides of the 2nd gen beds are the same size, but the outside dimensions are larger (they made the walls thicker). Depending on how they designed it, it may not fit at all.

I think you can find brackets/clamps on Amazon.

    Heres a reference:

Here’s how mine attached. The guy who bought it from me put it on his 2nd gen and all we needed to do was buy longer bolts for the clamps. It looked like shit but he seemed happy
