    Hello all,

I'm pickin up an RTT sometime this year and I'm wondering what the best options are for mounting it in my bed. I'm looking for crossbars that attach to the rail system. I also would prefer the top of the mounted RTT to be level with cab (or lower).

Here are a few I'm considering:

    All Pro Pack-Rack: $429
    Pelfreybilt: $725

    http://www.pelfreybilt.com/#!bed-racks/c1ftj

    Frontrunner: $261

    http://www.frontrunneroutfitters.co...-bed-kit-toyota-tacoma-2005.html#.VHE2Ssl5VVI

Currently, I'm leaning towards the Frontrunner just based on price. What do you guys think? What setups are you guys running?

I'm not sure that the factory bed rails would hold up the weight of a RTT with people in it.

Hmm, you might be right. Guess I can do without that option. I will probably only have a maximum of 2 people in the tent at a time. Lookin at the Tepui Kukenam

Edit: On second thought, I don't think notable companies would advertise their products "for use with RTT" if the rails couldn't support the weight. Considering all of the legal implications

You can not go wrong with any of these choices. Be sure to calculate options for powder coat and assembly. I recall the ARB may ship to be welded at your expense.
Another great rack builder is CBI. I had them custom build mine in aluminum to save a bit of bed weight. It weighs about 30 Lbs and is mounted in the rail system.
    Good luck.

They will hold up just fine and then some. Tough to beat frontrunner quality.

The front runner isn't the problem......it's the stock bed rails

Details on how they install? There's only 1 pic of them on the Relentless site...and it looks like there are 2 holes per "foot". I'm guessing there's some backing plate that slides into the rail system and a bolt goes through the "foot" and into the backing plate? Am I close?

I'm looking for something that can be bolted in, support a RTT, and then removed for DD and driving to work.

I am in the process of designing and building a LP bed rack that sits 10" off the bed rails. The top and side bars are adjustable for anyone's needs, for mounting a RTT, Hi-Lift jack, Rotopax or whatever it may be.

I'm looking to do the same thing, but have a tool box in the bed- not sure if I'd be able to open the lid of the tool box enough. Hoping the tall option is tall enough. If you have them installed right now, would you be willing to measure the height from the truck bed to the bottom of the crossbar?

I'm waiting on my Pelfreybilt aluminum bed cage to be made, sent deposit already. Then it's onto the RTT purchase.

8" from truck bed caps to bottom of cross bar. Tubing is 1.75", so RTT is about 10" above the bed rails. Just enough for me to get my tool box open enough to get stuff out, but I am using one of the slim tool boxes thats only 13" deep.

It comes with T-nuts to slide into the rails, then bolts to them.

The bed rails will hold a roof top tent and occupants just fine. I used mine mounted directly to the sliders for many weekends this year, and the bed has suffered no ill effects.

If you bolt the rack to the rails of the truck bed so that the bed sides are in tension then you should for fine with any design. The rail housing the T-slotted piece would have to yield before the bed bows.

I got an RTT on order and thinking of pairing with the bed rack by BAMF.

    http://www.bayareametalfab.com/2nd-Gen-Bed-Rack_p_30.html

Notice how the load (which may be up to 600lbs) is evenly distributed on the bed as oppose to the rails. That's a solid design! Please if you got your girlfriend/wife out with you in the wilderness and you doing the Fornication dance, you best believe that the force exerted on the rails has increased.
