For trips where I am not too concerned about weather and security, I came up with this idea for mounting fishing poles on my rack.
I like this idea because it will be unaffected by having my kayaks or cargo carrier on the top of the rack. I took the buckle apart to slide the webbing belt through the slot on the rack, this would also slow but not prevent theft of the carrier. You could run a cable lock through eyelets, reels, and the webbing if very concerned. But for my little trips this is not a concern for me.
My first 1 hour trip to fishing, worked out well. At highway speeds and on pupelone access trails no problems .
