I was wondering if the three bolt points on each side of where my crash bar is bolted(6 total) on my 06 tacoma would be enough to hold a homemade steel plate bumper...

Recommendatons and especially PICTURES would be extremely useful.

not sufficient if you intend to use it for a recovery/winch point. You'll want to tie back into the frame farther with some brace plates like the ones that ship with my front bumpers, arb, brute force, etc.
You can make your own, or simply order a set from me and bolt them on as well.

I also recommend tying into the cross member below those mounting points as well.

Do your bumpers require you to remove the crush cans, or the end cap mod?

EDIT: for a 1st gen, sorry wrong forum fellas!!
