Hi guys. I just ordered some Predator Step bars for my 2010 DCLB. The bars have three brackets, all the same. On the cab of the truck, it looks like the front mounting points are significantly farther apart than the rear two sets of mounting points, meaning the front bracket won't line up with both holes.

Have I got the wrong steps or something?

    thanks,

    D Smith.

Are you refering to the the black steps? The mounting brackets are adjustable on those

well the slots for the bolts are somewhat elongated, but other than that, not so much on these. I'll try and put some pictures up.

My real question is about the spacing of the mount points on the body. Are the sets of holes all spaced the same (i.e. is the distance between the front two mounting holes the same as the distance between the middle two mounting holes and the the distance between the rear two mounting holes?). Does that make sense?

From the picture below, the mounting bracket at the bottom goes to the backside. The two mounting bracket up top is where the front of the truck is.

o.k. that's what my steps look like. All the 'plate' parts of the brackets, where the bolts go through are the same size, but check out the mounting holes in the truck. The front set are 2 to 2 1/2 times as far apart from each other as the rear two sets are.

The pictures are of each set of mounting holes, front, mid, rear on the passenger side, of the vehicle (driver's side is just the same), with a tape measure held up next to them for scale of reference.

Now I see what you're talking about. The front one only requires one bolt. The middle and last requires two.

Looks like this brand doesn't use the same type of bracket the toyota ones do in the front. The toyota ones have a extended front bracket that utilize both bolts for mounting.

They all come from the same company. Nfab makes them and Smittybilt just box them in their own box (or the other way around). Toyota just have them made without Nfab's logo stamped on the steps.

Ok that might be so but then why do the "Toyota" branded ones have a different front bracket if they all come from the same supplier? I don't believe that Nfab makes the oval tube steps.

It's not a different bracket. For some reason, Nfab decided to have two holes in their front bracket when it only requires one. Same goes for "Toyota" & Smittybilt models. OP is referring to predator step bars, not oval tube steps.

Edit: The picture I provided is actually Toyota's Predator Step Bars.

Actually I got these from TRDParts4u. I thought they were Toyota branded, but I didn't ask specifically. I've been really happy with the support TRD4u has been giving me, answering dumb questions (somehow they shipped without the installation hardware or docs, but Barbara at TRD is running that down for me). Timely, decent price. Wasn't perfect, but they are making it right, so I'm not worried about it.

I saw the instructions last night. Sure enough, it shows one bolt on the front bracket. It's even annotated to point it out. Just waiting on the bolts now. They should be here Monday.

    Thanks Everybody.
