Hey guys, I'm wondering what creative ways you have come up with to mount things inside of the center console. Ideally, I'm thinking a CB and a Gun Magnet (to hold my G19 on long drives). I like the magnet because it doesn't take up any space when the gun isn't stuck to it (unlike a holster). I've already figured that they can both FIT but I don't know how to actually attach to the console itself. I'm thinking CB on the passenger's side and Magnet/gun on the driver's side.

Should I screw both the CB Bracket and magnet into the console? If so, can the plastic support the weight? Should I build some kind of more sturdy base for these to attach to? What about Super glue?

Please let's not turn this into a 2A discussion, if you don't like to gun part, just talk about the CB part.

Build a thin walled 1/4" plywood box to fit the console. Before inserting, mount your magnet and brackets to the plywood. Paint the plywood black. Done.

I like this idea. My biggest concern would be that space is already tight, so making it 1/4" smaller on each side isn't going to help. But that's what I get for wanting to cram a bunch of stuff in there.

I've been running this exact set up since I bought the truck. My gen 3 G19 is significantly modified and most likely heavier than yours with a +5 magazine plate. I guarantee it'll drill right into the thick plastic wall without issue. Just be smart about it and take your time mounting.

    -Cheers

Shit man, I wish I could, but its on the lot for a differential fix. I should hopefully be getting it back here shorty. I'd be happy to provide a picture then. Definitely plenty of room leftover for the CB on the right in my opinion.

Just a question. Why carry only on long drives? Just a question

Carry all the time, just not on my person for a 2+ hour drive. Can re-holster when I leave the car.

The more I think about it: What is holding the plywood box in? If I grab my gun, what is preventing the entire box from coming with the gun?

Build it to snug fit and put a piece of Velcro on bottom between box and console. If it's a magnetic mount you have to use a prying action to get the gun off the magnet so you will put pressure inward towards the box and outward toward the gun simultaneously to separate it from the magnet. It won't move lol
