Like t4daddy said, it's either a Peromyscus maniculatus, commonly called a deer mouse or the closely-related P. leucopus or white-footed mouse. These are the most widely-distributed and most common "field mice" in North America.

Sometimes the two species are close enough in appearance to require a genetic test for absolute identification, especially in juveniles. However, if the hind foot of an adult mouse of this appearance is over 21 mm and the tail is over 65 mm and you found the mouse in a wooded area you can be about 80% sure that you have a P. leucopus, otherwise it's probably a P. maniculatus. The tail of P. maniculatus also usually has more definition between the light and dark coloration. There are also several other species of Peromyscus but these two are the most common throughout much of the US and Canada.

In most of the US these mice are of little concern but in the Southwest small rodents often harbor hantavirus. A few years ago a girl I went to school with and her husband were cleaning out her grandparents' old farmhouse not five miles from here. Within 24 hours he was dead and she was on death's door; she barely survived.

this is the second one i caught... the first one fell victim to the rodenticide pellets i have up there... this one, in the OP, got electrocuted in my trap :) i know there's still some more up there.. i'm hoping to get the rest - and no, i won't be eating them for dinner :D

P.S. maybe i'll ship 'em to "samsung", if he's willing to cover shipping cost :D
