    Don't worry about it being a 4x2, once you hit 125k miles and your warranty ends you can do a solid axle swap on it ;)

    I had a Prerunner years ago, living in Southern California there were tons of 2wd friendly trails. I had a blast in that truck. I added a rear differential locker to it eventually and I was able to keep up with most 4x4 guys on the desert trails. When your in mud or rock crawling (or going up/down really, really steep trails) is where you really need 4x4, particularly 4lo

    Just saw you have the TRD package, so you're already equipped with the locking rear differential. You're set!

    That locker, airing down your tires, and putting weight in your back end will be your best friends when it comes to wheeling in 2wd.

    Perfect! I was always dirt-biking so I never worried about if the truck could make it! Now I need to figure out what I want to bolt on first...so many options...:confused:

    A good suspension plus lift would be ideal, especially wheeling in 2wd where momentum is also your friend.

    The stock TRD suspenion is fine but if you're gonna lift may as well upgrade ;)

    I definitely think suspension is on the list, already bottomed it out during my first test drive in the desert. I'm not sure if the wife will let me lift it though...hmm.
