I watched I think 2 of them. I wouldn't say that I'm a fan, but I don't remember not enjoying them. Also, am I the only one that kind of hates Chris Hemsworth, for no other reason than his success opened the door for his talent less brother Liam to do movies and television?

There have only been 2 so far. The 3rd comes out Friday...

I like Chris, although I hate 'pretty boys' who only get by on their looks. I haven't seen any movies on his that I haven't liked though. I haven't seen enough of Liam's movies to judge, but I have a feeling I won't like him in ID4 when I get around to seeing that. I don't think I hated him in The Hunger Games

I made the mistake of watching ID42. You won't miss anything if you don't get around to watching it. Of the 20 years spent between the two movies, 20 minutes may have been dedicated to writing a script.

Everybody go watch "Stranger Things" on Netflix like right now. ESPECIALLY if you were an '80s kid or like '80s Mystery/Horror/Thriller/Monster/Conspiracy movies.
It's like Goonies meets X-Files meets E.T meets Super 8. It will not disappoint. I was hooked from the opening credits:

Ive gone back and forth on it. Mainly because I HATE HATE HATE horror but if it isn't truly scary I can deal. I can't even watch trailers for movies with ghost etc and pop out at your freightening moments. I can't tell if this is one of those or not. I like every movie you referenced so...

Horror as far as a nod to IT, as in it plays as a small town paranormal mystery involving a group of kids and teens. I don't recall any "jump shots" that are popular in modern "horror" movies. Has a bit of a John Carpenter Halloween vibe too. The only gore in the whole series is bloody noses, a dying deer and one gored body.

I'm going to watch it this weekend, I love horror. The first movie I remember seeing was a horror so I was hooked young. Probably why Halloween is my favorite holiday and John Carpenter is my favorite Director.

Ok I'm just starting episode 2 and I'm already with you. Everyone go watch this show NOW!!!! The first episode was so freaking good. It had a couple "spooked me" moments but I'm a wuss and they actually weren't that bad. These kids are so likeable and the music. The music sealed the deal for me. I'm loving it. Already got some theories but I won't share to avoid any spoilers

Oh and also I tried to watch Hail, Caesar tonight with our neighbors. Both our wives tuned out 3 min in. Around 30min in we all agreed it was awful. We almost finished it. Only have 24min to go but they couldn't hang. It was awful. I may try and finish it in the morning but I'm hooked on Stranger Things now so I'll probably just put that dying hog out of it's misery

Thanks for the review and doing it without spoilers. I really enjoyed the movie "Hidden", which has the same directors as "Stranger Things". Having the same brothers Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer directing this TV series, will make it a must see for me.

Just finished binge watching this and it was pretty good. Not in your face 80's like The Goldbergs, that's too gimmicky for it's own good. But subtle like it was an 80's tv movie. Good cast, good soundtrack. I only have a gripe about the bikes. A little to modern looking ; the cranks, bars, wheels etc. were out of place. That I didn't like but that's just me nitpicking.

The only anachronism that jumped out at me was the school bus in the exterior school shots. It was obviously a newer bus. Thankfully they turned the nose away from the camera and used a blunt nose bus rather than a conventional model. Probably hard to find a true early '80s Bluebird in central Georgia that hasn't been converted to a cotton hauler these days.

By the way, the show was filmed in and around Jackson, Ga in Butts county last November. I knew the downtown buildings, flora and fauna looked familiar. The setting really felt like my '80s childhood. While the show is set in rural Indiana it is obviously rural Georgia.

Stranger Things has gotten progressively more frightening as it goes. Won't lie and say I haven't slept with a light on the past 2 nights :anonymous:

Anyway, I'm still loving it. It has me hooked so bad I can't stand it. It usually takes me 2-3 weeks to watch a full season of a show (10-12 eps) but I'm going to finish this one in 3 days (it's only 8 episodes, but that's still a lot for me to watch so quickly).

It's starting to give off a Pan's Labyrinthe vibe which is cool because I love all things Guillermo Del Toro

I've watched the first 5 episodes of Stranger Things and am really enjoying it. The nice thing about it being a Netflix original series is that the next season will be out in a month or two. That's a bit of an exaggeration but they do seem to spit out seasons very quickly.
