I think sometimes I make a decision to watch a movie, from the critics ratings on Rotten Tomato too much. They are right a lot of the time, but I have seen movies with low ratings, when I loved it after watching it, so it's good to take a chance on a movie you think you may like, but has low ratings.

Maleficent got a 49% on Rotten Tomato, but you liked it and I may have not considered it before your recommendation.

Shawshank is easily in my top 5, as are Saving Private Ryan and I'll always enjoy watching "Field of Dreams" although I might not say it's the best. Also always stop to watch Forrest Gump when it comes on, and my favorite post-apocalypse movie is probably "I Am Legend".

HATED HATED HATED Avatar; that was so dumb, badly acted and had the cheesiest SFX.

Also really like MIB and MIB III

You must have recognized the voice of the snake in "The Jungle Book", trailer I added to my post. If you don't, think "Avengers", because that was scarlett johansson, so imagine getting squeezed to death with a snake that has such a sexy voice. :p

Just curious if you saw Avatar in the theatre, with 3D IMAX? I saw Avatar later on TV and couldn't believe the difference and experience was so much less, like it was a different movie.

I agree with you, especially "field of dreams", but totally disagree with you on Avatar. Unless you saw Avatar in the theatre in 3D IMAX, you haven't experienced the real Avatar.

If you liked Saving Private Ryan you have to watch Band Of Brothers and The Pacific.
They are not movies they are a TV Series but I love them more than Saving Private Ryan

There have been many great movies over the years as mentioned already: The Shawshank Redemption, Brubaker, Cool Hand Luke, Back To The Future {which the critics killed}, Jaws, Star Wars, The Breakfast Club, Saving Private Ryan, V for Vendetta, The Shining, The Green Mile, Big and the list goes... but I feel the movie market is saturated and today the bad movies far out number the good. They are now remaking 80s movies i.e. Point Break-SUCKED; Vacation-SUCKED; Red Dawn-SUCKED; Ghostbusters-looks like it will SUCK.
As for all the new movies centered around the comics; Avengers and the like, they are entertaining which is all I want and all a movie is supposed to be IMO.
Movies 'based on true stories'... either film it as true or don't make the movie. Titanic-SUCKED and far from actual; In The Heart of The Sea-SUCKED and no way near actual; Lone Survivor-No where near actual events! Unbreakable-SUCKED and also did not follow actual events. Just leave these in book form which are far more enjoyable.

Just curious why you thought Lone Survivor wasn't near real events?

Since I didn't read the book can you please explain some of the differences?

I started watching "American Sniper", but couldn't get passed Bradley Cooper, portraying U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle. In my opinion he shouldn't have gotten that role, so I just couldn't take him seriously playing the part, so stopped watching after a 5 minutes in (maybe a little too pretty??).

OK, the book should be read by anyone who makes policy regarding rules of engagement, the more hands off the better (without lawyers), IMHO.

His partner falling down the mountain hitting his head on every available rock and still alive let alone conscience; the kid running down the mountain as if he is a mountain goat....not in the book.

OK, in my book U.S. Navy SEAL Chris Kyle is a legend, I guess I viewed him a little less Hollywood and more real cowboy type, but I will give the movie a second chance from your recommendation.:thumbsup:

Although in American Sniper the veteran who killed Chris Kyle saw no combat in actuality, for the movie to portray him to have PTSD is an outright lie.
