    Hey everyone,
Gonna be making the move back to Az in the next 6 months or so. We are moving to Goodyear and looking for some things to do in the area.
My wife and I purchased a home in Goodyear 4 years ago and we lived there for about a year before we decide to move back to California. We have been renting our home in Az, but really miss living in our own home. We moved back to California because I felt that I had a better chance getting hired as a firefighter.
Just wondering what some of you do for fun. I really don't want to sound like an ass but in the year that I was there I really didn't fine any hobbies / interests that I really enjoyed. I honestly can't say that I am the most social person but I'm defiantly not a dick either.
We really enjoy any kind of outdoor activity, camping, backpacking, fishing, ect.
    Any ideas...

    Visit the Build.
My fiance and I have a house in Buckeye, but are currently in Wisconsin. Similar situation...will be back in Arizona as soon as possible.

There are plenty of other Tacoma owners to hang out with! We generally went off-roading every weekend.

Sorry to hear about not getting hired in Cali. Mind if I ask what happened? Just not hiring out there?

Yeah things are pretty tough for now it seems. Just applied for Santa Clara they had over 5000 apps only taking 500. Got a handful of certs, EMT, FF1, FF2, driver operator 1a / 1b ,s-130 /190, 67 hour, confined space, first responder operational, the list goes on and on. been a volunteer for 3 years now. Just a waiting game. Got the e-mail today stating thanks for trying, only taking the most qualified folks.

Big thing these days is having your Paramedic cert. I'm working on that as we speak.

    .
Can't say I blame ya, there was a water district job that opened up, for ten positions, 9000 people applied, you had to test in the top 4 percent to move up in the process

Imperial County (CA) opened up for some positions...do your certs transfer to arizona? even if they did, nobody's hiring here either... i doubt it because my ifsac didnt work in Cali...apparently Cali uses their ladders with fly in...which makes them better than the rest of the world...

    Welcome back man!

Hope you get settled in and find a dept.

There's plenty of us out here. Most of us are Into the same stuff. We go wheeling alot, mostly on the eastside. There are meets and wheeling trips on the Westside as well. We go out and have meets, grab some food and drinks, so out shooting, etc.

Winter season a group of us go Snowboarding, some go to Glamis, and play paintballl. Summer is pool parties and floating down the salt river and chillin at the lake, as well as camping and hiking.

Don't be shy. We are all friendly around here in Az.. willing to lend a helping hand.. and have a good time.

    As stated before: Az Rules!

From what I know it's easier to be an officifer first. Then work your way in. I have a few friends that have tried but never made it Ito the dept but never made it.

Welcome back to AZ, sorry Cali didn't work out.

Also yea, pretty much what the above said. I'm on the west side and we do a lot of stuff too (though we've all been rather busy lately). Mostly wheeling/hiking on my side though. Or working on cars, or gaming, or hanging out, going to restaurants, ect... There really is a ton of stuff to do in AZ, it's just a matter of getting out and actually doing it.
