So I got a nice 6 point whitetail last week, without comprehensive insurance coverage. I got two repair quotes averaging $1500. I'm bummed. I'm looking for an awesome recommendation that will cheer me up. I'm thinking about going for a black aftermarket bumper. I don't rock climb or offroad, but I'd like it to look cool and withstand another deer. Also would be nice if it was under $1000. Any recommendations? Also do most aftermarket bumpers come with all the mount brackets? Most of mine are smashed, ha. Ok thanks!DSC00423.jpg

I hit a large doe last summer and insurance paid out 1k, I kept the money and found a used bumper and installed it and also replaced one headlight with a factory Toyota headlight.
Check your headlight mounts as they may be broken.
I was going to install an ARB bumper but did not want to deal with the added weight affecting the springs and I went 40 years without hitting a deer in the mountains so I rolled the dice and installed factory parts.

you dont need a new bumper, just new bumper cover, may cost $200 for after market. The fender you can bend back (carefully), it doesnt look like paint was cracked. Bumper/fender flare extensions are about $25-$35 (aftermarket). Clips for bumper cover and fender flares will run you about another $35. Bumper cover outer support braket will cost you another $25-$35. Bumper filler (the piece between the headlight housing and bumper cover) will run you about another $40, clips for it (unbelievably) about $50! Just bend everything else in place. Painting and blending should not cost over $300. As far as a front bumper anf grille gard, not sure, I use a steel bull bar, but that only really protects the center. It destroyed a Mitsu Mirage that pulled out in front of me though :) BUT, did leave some white paint on my bull bar, which I was not happy about! :)

thanks for the recommendations, i do like that brute force hybrid. really my priorities are 1. cheapest 2. best looking. i need a new headlight assembly on that side, which is going to look strange next to the old one, but oh well. my local junkyard has not a single tacoma. also the bodyshop says i need a whole new grille since the brackets are mostly broken off that hold it on.

you can get a pair of aftermarket TYC headlight housings on Ebay for couple hundred bux! if on a strict budget... pull grille off, be careful, save the broke off tabs, super glue them back, reinstall grille. there is ZERO force or stress on the grille! or carefully remove the emblem, (its a few tabs) buy aftermarket grille, about $75 have it painted with everything else and put emblem back. :) this is not really expensive fix :)

The good thing about the BruteForce one on your case is you don't have to worry about trying to find new foglights or OEM foglights. And yeah, TYC or if you want to get some blacked out headlights get the Depo ones off Amazon.

I got an ARB to protect mine against deer since i live deep in the back country. Only downfall is the weight of it like mentioned above, other than that i only have positive things to say about it

Got'r it done! Only took about 7 months, not too bad, ha. I ended up going with a Pelfreybilt aluminum plate bumper which came with the Baja Designs lights. I also replaced my headlights with the Depo assemblies from Amazon. Everyone likes before and after pictures, right? I'm thinking I might need to black out or change the grill completely, I'm open to suggestions.
