Got orders overseas for a few years and leaning towards selling my taco to payoff my debt and be out with a clean slate.
    1. Looking to see what you guys think i should ask
    Or
    2. if there is a VERY good reason to keep it.

Military will pay to store it or I can leave it with family. Taking it is not an option.

    2014 TRD Sport DCLB
    87,900 miles
    Remote Start
    Weathertech rainguards
    Predator Tube steps

    Thanks

God Bless You first off and CYA. Don't get rid of it. See if one of your family members can just drive it once in awhile to heat it up and keep it running. You are busting your butt for the military. Let them pay to keep what you have, what you've worked for and what you love.

Keep it. If you could keep it a family members house that would be better because like @FishingPups said, "...can drive it once in a while and keep it running".

I would sell it. Especially if you’re gone for a few years. Use the money to pay off the debt like you said or invest the money. It’s a nice truck - should fetch good $$$ in its stock form. Thank you for the service!

Tuff call. There's a lot to be said for paying off your debt, but that is a good looking 2nd gen. If it was me, I would sell it. Having no real debt while your out of the country is a huge plus and your not making payments on a truck that your not driving. Also, unless you can get someone to drive it on a regular basis, the truck is just sitting in a storage yard for however long. I'd be worried about issues that may arise from it not being driven, but I must admit that I'm no expert on stored cars. Good luck with whatever you decide and thank you for your service.

If I am not mistaken, there are things you can buy to prep a vehicle for long time storage too. I am not a 100 percent on this but I know that some big boy car enthusiasts use these things to keep up their toys because they don't intend to drive them very much.

See your point but when he gets back he sure doesn't want to be hunting another one right off the bat. A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush so to speak. He'll have a payment either way.

The truck is...I have the title...shifted money around and consolidated my debt, sitting at around 20k in the whole. Consolidation cut my monthly payment in half.

So you own it now? Just have the debt in another "place"?

Thank for all the responses so far. My thought was payoff debt since I’ll be gone for several years, wife will not be working out there so loss in income, buy something new whenever i get back

It is easy for TW members to be biased and want you to keep it but real life circumstances would dictate that selling it to be debt free is the smarter thing to do. You don't need to make payments for a truck that is parked, which is worse for the truck. Unless family or friends are taking over payments, having them drive it is a bad idea. Good way to ruin relationships if they wreck it. And lastly, your priorities may change which may not include the tacoma in the future. Sell it to someone for them to enjoy it and you be debt free. Thank you for your service.

Yeah, there is something to be said for having transportation ready to go when you get back. For me, I think I would still sell, but I don't think there really is a wrong answer just personal preference.
