Still having a rear knock that now, after replacing the engine, tranny mount & leaf springs, is coming from both sides, whereas it was predominantly on the left. The mounts were more worn on the right & left leaf spring was worse. Also, there is a click when weight is put on the truck 1st thing, like when I get in it prior to starting it. So I got under there last night & started looking around.

There is a loose bed bolt, driver’s side right behind the cab. Click? I couldn’t tighten it & didn’t wanna push it because it could be something on the other end, rust? I couldn’t fit a neoprene washer in the gap, so I put in some gasket stuff for now to see if it helps. Should I mess with it? Replace it? From what I can see the bolt is fine, but I know not what is going on on the other end.

I replaced the center support bearing in 12/17 & again in early 2019?, late 2018? It is loose-ish again. Knock source? I dunno. Not totally shot, but is going. Has anyone gotten creative with these? I was thinking of letting it down, taking a piece of softer weight hose, slitting it up the side so as the pad the rubber. For now....

No movement down by the axle, although I am not sure if the truck is supposed to be jacked up to check that? Shocks seemed ok when I did the leaf springs, but I did get a set dirt cheap & if nothing else seems to be the knock source, I can swap them out.

So one of the reasons I want to do a temp fix on the CSB is because I think next up should be the power steering res. The motor mounts helped a little with the engine rumble I was/am having, but still, when idling in gear or not, especially while turning the steering wheel, there is a low level, yet noticeable vibe & rumble. The belts were done last year, tension is good, steering rack was just done. Nothing loose. I would have cleaned it then, but was on borrowed time using someone else’s lift.

Anwho, I don’t think anyone would argue about the res needing to be done cuz it never has been, 240,000. (Amazed how much easier hall of shame confession has gotten....). This is my project for today. I hope it doesn’t turn into one of my typical where I see on here how those who have never done it are done in an hour whereas 5 days later I am still at it....

Couple/few questions. I think I need a cap. My 3.4 searches bring up Toyota at 20 bucks a pop or one from Thailand at 15.00 which you might see on your doorstep by 4/7. I mean that’s it. If you have a 2.7 there are more options, dorman at 5.00, 5 stars on Amazon, for one. So my question you ask? Does anyone know of another option? Also, what else would I need to cover my butt just in case? (See, I can get right to the question sometimes). In the vid Timmy mentions the (how does autocorrect turn oring into Pringle’s?!?!) o’ring on the bottom of the res, but not size, etc. Just a standard Pringles ? As in it should be in the harbor freight multi choice lifetime & then some supply? Or will it be that one that I don’t have that i’ll Then need to somehow get a hold of, adding on a day & a what will now be a 5.00 oring cuz i’ll have to get it from some place that sells that size by the piece only, to the job? Any other advice?

Ok. Done for now. Really.... besides I have to get to it....

CSBs have some slop when new.
1/4 to 1/2" top to bottom and side to side with heavy hand pressure.
Take a good look at the cross members supporting the engine and transmission mounts. The point where cross member meets frame rail may be cracked/ loose/ rusted.
I'll re read and try to process more of your post.
Trying to shim a CSB with slit hose?
    Sounds like desperation.
Just breathe, take a break, stay calm, don't worry, be happy:thumbsup:

Just didn’t know if it was a case of the wonkies That maybe the CSB had taken a hit cuz of the mounts being worn. Good to know on how much play is acceptable. I still like my MacGyver-ette idea. I actually used it as a buffer between the leaf spring assist & the u-bolt & it worked great.... typically a worrier? Yes-ish. Typically Happy? Yes. The two can coexist. I am hopelessly hopeful is what it boils down to....
    Thank you....
