The wife, baby and I are moving to Queen Creek (Phoenix's SE Valley) in 2 weeks. Moving into a rental while our home is being built.

Any recommendations on trails or OHV areas nearby?
Only thing I've found is Bulldog Canyon OHV.

Congrats on getting out of commiefornia.

Being in Queen Creek you’ll be right by Tortilla Flat. Little north is 4 peaks. Camp Creek to Sheep’s Bridge is a popular one. Back way to Crown King. To name some. The order of these all get further from where you’ll be.

Could you link to the site where you got that info? I couldn’t find anything about an active fire in the 4 peaks area

Buy the big Forest Service Maps, Get good GPS and down load the Topo’s. Carry Gas and WATER. Go out have fun. This is the Wild West and NOT Kalifornia. From old Billy the Kid Hideouts to abandoned ghost towns, thousands and thousands of abandoned mine shafts, drive right up to the edge of the North Rim. I have had tires pop off beads, so carry TWO spares. Almost all of AZ is US Forests, State Trust, BLM or Reservation.

Look for those dotted trails on those Forest Service Maps usually label “Jeep Trail”. General Rule of Thumb regarding fences and gates is that unless it is posted then its open. Leave Gates as you found them. Get a Permit for State Trust Land.

I have a Side by Side ORV (with ORV Decal). We have been on “Jeep Trails” in that that P U C K E R. One of us hanging onto roll gage and leaning way out to counter balance us to prevent roll over into steep canyon.

My point is that AZ is W I L D. Just stay on those trails and watch for posted signs about Wildlife Habitat. Don’t make your own roads, that is Habit Destruction, The Game Wardens are out there and the fines are hefty.

For example, I turn left instead of right out of my driveway. I cross the State Trust Land behind our development (big lots 5+ acres) and am able to drive almost 100 miles up to 10,300’ and only hit pavement for about 500 yds. I figured this out studying the Forest Service Maps. The entire State (outside of The Valley) is like this.

One word of caution. Avoid the border! Bullets flying, Cartels and all. And its for real. And anything on any reservation requires a lot of permits and one is almost certainly to run afoul.
