Fairly high.. after all, we are a socialized country with many more taxpayer financed services offered to it's citizens, regardless of personal means.

Additionally, if you move up from the USA - unless you surrender your US citizenship - you are paying US AND Canadian taxes.

The author of that piece is being a bit dramatic but the points made about residency , work and healthcare are all valid

..and the comments of American bashing, it's all just a wee bit overblown. It is a something of a past-time however, in our own little quaint nationalistic passive-aggressive manner of humor.

I know a couple that retired to Vancouver. It took them quite a while to go through the whole process. They get amused at statements like 'I'm moving to Canada" like it's a walk in the park.

    Yep

Politically , even our Conservatives would be looked at as liberals down south and our NDP and Liberal Party , socialists and communists so there are fundemental differences

I reread your statement. I concur with the federal parties, but the provincial parties are a mishmash of ideals.

It's always a challenge to understand another countries politics. In Ontario, there have been many past incompetent governments of all stripes, and the result is we are paying for their mistakes today. The current government under Kathleen Wynne is doing a good job under difficult circumstances by playing the hand she has been dealt. One reality that will soon set in throughout Canada, is that our taxes are too low. The reason every level of government is running deficits is because they don't have enough money to do what needs to be done. So if you want to live here, and although a little American bashing is laughed about, we love our neighbours, and share your values for the most part. There isn't another country on earth that I would rather live next than the great US of A!!

I think Canada needs a list of "Politicians that blew a Billion" Wynne managed that during the election with the cancellation of the electrical plants. Federally MacKay seemed to manage that with everything he touched, ice breakers, helicpters etc, yet still managed to have some kind of Golden boy image.
Obama makes the list by insisting Trans Canada Pipeline resubmit their Keystone application at the cost of 2 Billion Canadian dollars, while having no intention of approving it.
