Hey y'all, I'm moving to Colorado within this next year and I'm hoping I can get some recommendations on what parts of town have reasonable rent prices and would cater to individuals in the mid twenties. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

Not to mention the front range / Denver metro is a big area, you'll want to try and live in a sector where you'll be working, if you are relocating to Denver.

Definitely somewhere close to where I can get a job, unfortunately I can't relocate with my current company of employment.

Yeah its really going to depend where you are planning on working or if your going to school. Housing and renting
Market right now is kind of crazy! If you can pin point a rough idea where you want to live let us know. Downtown Denver and boulder and a few other places will be expensive. Erie has been growing. a lot if new stuff is being built north of denver in thornton and also south in parker/lonetree.

If you're moving there without an offer, consider an extended stay hotel for a few weeks while you get your bearings and find work.

I bought a new house in Parker in 1997 and sold it in 2015 for triple what I paid.

It's expensive here now, for sure. You'll likely pay close to CA prices, the closer you get to any major city.

"Reasonable rent" is very relative. What can you afford? Do you prefer an apartment or house? What is your field of work? Do you have any inkling of where you are going to work? Do you use public transportation or bicycling and the like or will you insist on driving therefore clogging up roads and causing more smog? Do you have any pets? Do you like to go out a lot? Do you prefer city life or country life? What weather or animals do you fear the most? What is your motivation for moving here?

From where are you moving? The job market is quite strong, though salaries in most professions are NOT keeping pace with housing costs in the Denver Metro area.

As for rents: If moving from: NYC, D.C., Boston, San Francisco Metro or L.A; rent will be cheap by comparison. If from anywhere else in the country, you are about to have a reality check.

Start checking in Craigslist, to get an idea.

Also, Denver Metro has quirks, when it comes to roomates. 420 friendly, or not. Dog friendly, or not. Sometimes I think I'm the only person in Denver Metro without a pooch. Vegan/vegetarian, or not. Non Colorado native hater, or not. After seven years here, I've learned a thing or two...

My house has literally appreciated by about 70% just 2 years after purchase. The inventory of homes for sale is low and rent is flat out ridiculous as a result, since most people cannot afford overbidding with cash offers just to secure the sale.

First off, I may be from FL, but I lived in L.A. Metro. No, Denver Metro prices are NOT "CA prices". Heck as big as CA is, there is no such thing as "CA prices". San Fran Metro is HORRIBLY expensive, as $1,000 gets you a CLOSET to live in. Santa Barbara is another nightmare.

L.A. Metro is pricey, so is San Diego, while Barstow is dirt cheap, and so is Fresno or Sacramento. L.A., San Fran, Santa Barbara and San Diego are way pricier than Denver.

Tons of houses for sale around Wash Park, DU, and near Glendale, around Colorado Boulevard. Looks to me that the prices been asked, are no longer feasible/acceptable.
