I'll be moving from Phoenix, AZ. Looking to spend 1400 for rent. I'll be moving with 2 other roommates so a 3bed 2bath is what I'm looking for. I'm looking on Zillow right now and I'll be checking Craigslist as well.

    That's divided by 3, a 4,200 a month house sounds amazing though.

1,400 3 bedroom 2 bath? Yeah, not gonna happen in Denver. Longmont, CO Springs, Pueblo and maybe north of Longmont and around Ft. Collins, Greeley and Brighton in the front range. Grand Junction in the western slope. Not saying that for Denver Metro is imposible, but is darn near unrealistic, unless you are willing to live in the 'hood.

I have a friend renting a 4/2 house in an Aurora 'hood (yeah that's a double negative), and she paid 1,850/month, and had to vacate as the place had mildew.

Thanks for the recommendations, I don't mind living in the outskirts or the hood.

For reference, I live off of I-25 and Highway 7, north Denver Metro area, city is Thornton, but I'm on the boundary of Erie.

    3 bedroom 3 bath, $2275 a month

Not sure if you answered, or I may have missed it, what line of work are you in?

For me it depended on the drive I was willing to do for work. I moved to CO in 2006 and was driving from Greeley to Arvada for at least 8 months before my wife and I settled in Erie for several years(before the massive town expansion). Then moved east for a less expensive house.

To me the trend seems to be go east or north to find more affordable and/or reasonable housing costs. Or maybe south of Colorado Springs

Thank you for sharing, I've been working with fraud for a major credit card company for the last couple of years.

Seriously consider staying in an RV long-term. My boyfriend and I live in our RV in CO Springs and we're only paying about $550 a month to park the trailer on the lot. We pay an additional $225/month for the trailer note (we've got a larger bumper pull and it's cozy but not too bad if you don't have a lot of stuff). Just make sure you've got good insulation for everything and a large propane tank for the winters.

This just happens to be why I am wondering... Limited oil field work including pipeline welders/pipe fitters, dead mining industry, DOD dying out in Colorado Springs... I am retiring soon, but I still look around out of curiosity. I lived in Colorado a long time, it has taken a 180 turn from 30 years ago. I really enjoyed Colorado while I was there, but the population has exploded and so has the traffic, even in the last 10 years.

I am sad to see this nice state going in the direction that it is. It is just too congested now. Haha end rant. I hope everyone is enjoying the place.

I hear ya. The place I work at recently has been looking for tradesman but need years of experience, like machinists and certified welders.
The decade I've been in CO it has definitely expanded exponentially. But that is with any place that is not currently over crowded but has an established market draw.

FYI- I have looked at renting my Townhome (just 2 bedroom) in Littleton and all the craigslist rent posts within my complex are for $1,800-$2,000.

I am thinking you might find something in Aurora or Green Valley ranch for less but add commute time.

I fully endorse finding an extended stay type hotel until you have jobs and can lock in what you can spend and your work location.
