When you say stay off when it snows are there not any paved roads? Or are they paved but not plowed or so steep that I wouldn't make it up?

They are paved and plowed. I70 at least. Problem is that most of the hills are just steep enough even fwd cars have a hard time getting up them when its icy and snowy. Even some of the streets in different towns. So the cars end up turning their wheels left and right, and kinda snaking their way up. Which causes a hazard for vehicles passing them that don't have the traction issue. Just try to plan your route and avoid uphill stops when possible. Or wait a few hours (generally) and they will clear up.

They plow the roads in Colorado Springs assuming that's where you are headed. We have pavement.

I live in Colorado Springs. It doesn't snow much. I assume you'll be at Ft Carson? Live close to base or off a major road and you'll be fine. I only put my truck in 4wd because i want to, not because i have to. Whatever you do, don't plan on bringing your truck here with the intent to sell or trade in....theres little to no market for a 2wd truck here and a lot of dealers wont even consider it for trade unless they can move it out of state. If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.
