Well it's official! Job offer came in and I will be transferring at the end of January. Hoping the weather isn't too crazy. Can't wait to move! So tired of this heat down here.

    Thanks for all your advice!

Congrats on the new job and welcome to Denver. I moved from TX 5 years ago and really enjoy living here.

If you haven't lived where it snows, it can be a bit of an adjustment the first year, so give yourself some time to adjust and it's no big deal imo.

We have some of the best trails, hiking, camping, and incredible scenery so definitely make some time to get out and enjoy it once summer hits (July after the snow has melted).

Leave No Trace and Stay The Trail are so, so important here. I cannot emphasize this enough. Every single year we have trails closed due to people taking unauthorized shortcuts or driving off the trail. This year we had a large national forest area change from unlimited dispersed camping to permit required camping (and limited permit availability) due to people leaving trash and uncovered human waste everywhere.

But there are still plenty of beautiful, secluded places to get out and enjoy nature.

Anyway, congrats again and safe travels!

Shit I found on CL or EBAY that I could screw on.
We did this over TG to visit friends in PHX. Not with a trailer. Both are tough routes but I-70 gets shut down all the time due to snow. Also seems like much more trucker traffic on I-70. Plus the ski traffic on I-70.

Absolutely AVOID I-70 in the winter and with a trailer. Take I-40 to Albu and then North on I-25. Keep a sharp eye on the weather and plan accordingly. You do NOT want to be doing this drive in a blizzard. It will take you some time to acclimate to the altitude and weather compared to Phoenix, but the Denver area is great.

    Update!

I made it! Arrived yesterday afternoon. Ended up doing the trip in two days because of bad weather in Arizona and along the 40. Took the 17, to the 40 to the 25. Truck performed admirably even in the snow towing a u-haul.

Thank you all for the route advice. Can't wait to meet you on the trail once I'm all settled in!
