Hello everybody, I'm Matt and I'm moving from Chicago, IL to Phoenix hopefully if everything goes as planned beginning of summer. Just wanted to see how the Arizona scene is, I'm sure there are quite a bit more wilderness to play than the midwest. How does the barcelona red hold up in the desert sun?? My fender flares are chipping already :/

I can't take another midwest winter. Just got my frame replaced and had to go through one salty winter and I'm definitely not sticking around for another. I had a hole the side of a small nerfball football in my old frame..never took a picture of the actual hole but you get the jist of it.

That is one good thing about the southwest, no real rust issues to speak of (unless you live and wheel on the beach or up in the mountains regularly). My 2004 that I just bought has an immaculate frame, and it spent most of it's life in Arizona.

Red absorbs blue and uv light so it should provide protection in the desert.

Haha, yeah last time I stayed out there for a month or so and I would get bloody noses from the dry air. I'm used to 100% humidity. The air so sticky and think you can taste it. I'm so ready for the heat, the cold freezes your bones and doesn't leave all day.

Just moved to Scottsdale, AZ from Elk Grove Village, I sure do not miss the winters there lol, summers here are better than freezing temps. Eventually you will be starting to wear sweaters in 70s lol.

Well, I would like to early welcome you to az. I'm in the East valley of the Phoenix metro area. There are tons of members in the area along with around the state. I will say that the summers are brutally hot, but not as humid as Chicago most of the time. One thing that is great about this state is we have mountains that we can escape to in the summer mountains, where as the Midwest does not.

Camping season is among us and the mountains are starting to call our names.

We welcome you and look forward to having you come out on the trails with us.

    This is my 12.

Thanks guys, I haven't been on here in a couple weeks, can't wait to go camping. I stayed a bit in flagstaff Arizona and only drove through sedona through a snow storm..haha more snow than we've gotten in Illinois this year go figure. This is the first week where it is consistently breaking 70 degrees here in Illinois and I'm still in my jacket while my co-workers wear shorts and short sleeves..

Finally made it to Arizona the other night! Took a sweet drive through the Rocky Mountains and stopped in Moab for a couple days. Absolutely beautiful. Got a flat in Utah on the way to Arizona all alone on some dirt road with no cell signal at all haha good times. Now I need a set of tires. Anybody trying to do some light wheeling? Still got my spare on and I'm also stock so I can't go too wild. Here's some pics of my adventure
