You had mentioned Beaverton/Portland. Both high traffic area, regardless of which hwy you take. Granted there is a Trader Joe's nearby me as well as a Costco :D but you also mentioned possibility of working at home so I guess it depends on your job as well as your significant other. Cost of living is ridiculously high here and, from what I've seen, it may be a tad cheaper to live in the Vancouver area and still travel to Portland to enjoy some brew.

    Shit on a black truck.
I have a friend that lives in Bend and loves it. I live in West Seattle. Dont move to West Seattle. I think the north end Redmond/Shoreline/Monroe/Mukilteo are nicer than the south end. Good hiking up around Granite Falls area and easy access to the cascades. Your girlfriend drinking light beer is a Wyoming thing. I grew up in Green River, WY. A lot of festivities and beer festivals start up around March. I know Portland does dine out Portland where its fairly cheap to go to 4 and 5 star restaurants that I think runs the whole month of March. Worth looking into and hitting some festivals while you are around the are. Feel free to message if you need suggestions in the Seattle area.

Bends pretty :) Cost of living is quite high though. As for Boise not being small, it's very small compared to Portland/Seattle. Suburbs of Boise (meridian, eagle, kuna) are quite nice communities.

I'll definitely take you up on it when the time comes closer. My GF has done some research into the area and has mentioned living in Albany nearby too.

Hmmm we'll have to check it out but it might sound Beaverton is ideal for us with high traffic/cost of living.

I'm hoping to find a festival while we're there but I couldn't find anything. Might have to dig a little deeper... So far from what I've heard though, y'all are saying either north of Seattle or East near Bend. I'll check those out and message you if I have questions. Thanks!

Lol.....my wife and I are moving from Washington to Phoenix next week!

We live in Mount Vernon. Between Mount Vernon and Burlington you have everything you need in Restaurants, movie theatres, Home Depot, Costco, only 30 miles to Trader Joe's in Bellingham or Everett and several microbrews/pubs in the area. Quick trip to Anacortes to hop on a ferry to spend a day or weekend on the San Juans......I am gonna miss it but kinda excited to see what life in the desert and Phoenix area is like.

Good to know. Thanks! Congrats on the move! What's bringing you to AZ? Prepare for lots of brown, rocks, and dirt. Huge difference from all the green up there

Yeah it will be different from the evergreen state for sure. Wife got a job at Midwestern University in Glendale. I'll have to find employment when I get there otherwise I may just move her down there and then come back to work here for April-June as my boss is having trouble filling my position.

I have a bunch of recommendations in the greater Seattle area. But keep us posted on locations. Bellingham and the Portland/Vancouver, WA area also have a large collection of breweries.

Snoqualmie! Good beer, awesome hiking and outdoorsy stuff to do, close to the city but still has a small town vibe, actual seasons, adorable as hell, quick access to Eastern WA or anywhere else you might want to go. This is where I'd like to move in the next few years, but at the moment, I'm in the Tacoma/Puyallup area. There are tons of little small towns all along the I5 corridor that would fit perfectly, but I'd say that Snoqualmie fits the bill the best.

To all those that don't realize, Flagstaff gets plenty of snow. Definitely more than Seattle does.

You guys have work figured out or? That really changes things as far as location. In WA, there are a lot of places that meet your "requirements". From what i remember about Flagstaff, I think youll see a lot of similarities in Bellingham. Great outdoor culture, couple good breweries, "small city" feel.

Keep in mind, the Seattle metro area will be significantly more expensive in terms of cost of living, than the ouskirt communities, Tacoma, Edmunds, etc.

Since we have Bend on the list, we'll add Snoqualmie too and check it out. Thanks! My only memories of Snoqualmie are of the falls of course.

We get too much snow  Hoping for a nice change that Seattle/Portland offers

We have not figured out jobs yet but was hoping to figure out where we'd want to move to end of March after we visit and start applying to jobs from there. Then we'll make one more trip out in June to check out places in where we decide to move and hopefully sign a lease. We've heard lots of great things about Bellingham and the similarities to Flag so I'm excited to check it out.
