I don't do either, but I mow about 7 acres every week on our property. I was using a traditional lawn tractor and was spending about 5 hours cutting each week. I finally decided to buy a zero turn mower late last summer.

I went with a Husqvarna MZT-61. It has a 30hp engine and 61" deck (my lawn tractor has a 56" deck). With the larger deck, the faster forward speed and the quick turning ability, it cut my mowing time in half.

seems like the competition in that field is fierce. On my daily commute I see lots and lots and lots of pickups pulling lawn equipment with the name of their company on the side of the door.

I mow a little over an acre. I bought a craftsman zero turn last summer. Boy, what a difference in mowing time! Cut to less than half:eek:

Mowed as a part of my job for 31 years, sometimes for the whole day if you include machine maintenance and trimming. Always preferred a 4wd tractor with a 60" belly mower on the terrain I worked on which would include hilly and rocky foot paths. Now I have a Kubota GR2120 awd for my property. I mow about 4 acres which includes hilly and rocky trails through the woods and around an 8 acre prairie. The GR turns as sharp as a rear wheel steer JD but doesn't create tracks when turning because the rear inside wheel clutches out leaving only the front and outside rear engaged. It has a small three cylinder diesel rated at 21hp and a 56" three blade deck which is shaft driven with one belt to drive the two outer spindles. One problem is that I have to share mowing or the wife gets pouty!

Depends on the terrain and operator, wouldn't work for me on my property and my wife would have the thing mowing the barn.

What are you cutting it with now? Zero turns are much faster plus they can maneuver around trees and other objects easier than a tractor style.

Wide open areas with few turns, and pretty much flat. I would get the biggest deck I could find. There are some huge decks out there, 8'+. Typically NOT a zero turn.

Not speaking of girls in general, just my girl. I have had several women work for me that were very good at mowing, one in particular that was very good with a tractor/loader.

I just mow my own lawn. Just over an acre. I've got a John Deere D100, 42" deck. I'm able to mow, weedeat, and rake my front yard in about 1.75-2 hours.

I have 1.5 acres that I use a jd lx288 on. Takes around 2 hours for mow, blow, and weed eat. I used to bring home a yanmar 10 foot diesel reel mower when I worked for a repair company and lived on a 16 acre plot. Took about 40 minutes total with that thing.
