painted door handles, bilstein 5100's front and back, K&N air filter. Precision power component speakers and Kenwood deck.

I would love to see the Hilux in the states. Just watched an episode of Top gear. They had 2 red hilux in the snow with I swear some sorta of baja offroad balloon tires. Damn thing kept running in -30 degrees. Looking to buy my wife a turbo jetta but CA is going to pass a new law to make diesels pass smog.

I have had my 2010 Taco for four months now with 6200 miles on the odometer. My drive to work every day is 104 miles round trip. All of the driving is highway and I set the cruise at 70 mph. I average 23 mpg every week since the first day I bought it. I have been thinking about trying to drive 60 mph one week just to see what kind of mpg's I can get it.

25 MPG combined commute to work.
My first 10,000 miles were not as good.
Break in and the change to Synthetic got me to the 25 MPG mark
If I slowed down I'm sure I could tweek a few more out it.

I hope mine improves with break-in. I'm only getting 19.4 mpg in my first 600 miles on it. Mixed city/hwy, but more hwy than city. Driving like a grandpa...

Why do think some of us bought the smaller motor?
Because the MPG is important to us.

The thread is asking people what gas milage they are getting so that they can compare with each other.
I'm very sure we all know the tacoma is an Effin truck.
Some of us may learn from this thread.
We might learn that switching to synthetic will get us another little bit of MPG.
We might learn that after breakin we can expect a little more.
We might learn what kind of person you are. You may talk to your girl or kids like this but not grown men.

    With 20K miles on a 40 mile one way commute (20% 60mph county rds,10% town 30mph, 70% highway 75mph +/-), I get 22.5 sometimes almost 23.

Running Mobil1 and waiting on parts to put cruise in.

Cruise should help because I tend to drift between 65 and 80 on the 75 mph leg of commute. Hopefully consistent speed will help a bit.

We are a little disappointed in the mpg. It's a company truck which replaced a GMC ext cab 4x4 with a 5.3 auto and 4wd which consistently did 19.5-20mpg on the same trip.

Anyway it's a good little truck and goes great in snow even in 2wd.

About 7 weeks ago I got a 2010 Tacoma base 4x2 2.7L AT. The following day my wife got her 2010 Ford Fusion 177HP 4cyl with AT.

We like them both though minor quirks aside I love my Tacoma like my cat loves staring at me (which is quite a lot).

Here's the thing though where my wifes car has got it all over me.. 18 more HP, a buttery smooth tranny with absolutely no quirks and she's getting about 4-5 more mpg than me and she's only been driving around town!!!

I love my Tacoma but the worst thing about it is the 4 speed automatic. It goes through the first three gears nicely but man when I hit 4th gear it feels like I hit a 500mph head wind. Then finally smooths out around 60mph which is as fast as we can drive around here anyway in most places. Beeing a little more heavy footed helps that situation to some extent, but I'd rather drive it easy.

I just hit 1,000 miles yesterday. In a 50/50 mixture of driving around town and 55-65mph highway driving I am getting about 22mpg. I have been going to the same pump and letting it go till it cuts off the first time, which is that an accurate way of determining my gas milage?

On Tank #3 for me and wow.

Tanks 1 & 2 I was gettin around 22 mpg and I was looking to be hitting the half tank mark around 185-200. Closer to the 185 than the 200. Tank 2 (22.2) was better mpg wise than tank 1 (21.7) was.

Tank #3 I removed the Secondary Air filter just after filling up and I'm sitting right at 219.6 miles and the needle still hasn't centered on the 1/2 tank hash mark. Really interested to see where this tanks will finish at.

Not much HW driving, some, but not much.

Also wonder how long the truck was sitting/not being run much before I purchased it. Been about 1,000 since I purchased her now, should have something to do with that as well.

Only been filling up until the pump shuts itself off, no top-off, don't pound my throttle at a green light, try to coast when possible and try to take routes that can keep me in the 45-55 MPH range, get those injectors pulsing at their peak.

I keep track. I'll write down how many gallons it took to re-fuel and how many miles I went on that tank and get a decent idea of my mpg.

added questionThe first 5,000 miles everything is tight. You don't usually see the good MPG until after 10,000 miles.
I agree with the statement about the 4th gear shift being very low on power with the 4 speed automatic. I sometimes slide the shift lever over into the 3rd gear position when heading up steep hills. We have lots of steep hills in PA.
It's almost as if toyota should have raised the shift points a little higher or put a little higher gear ratio in the rear end.

I suppose it's a comprimise between power and fuel economy.
Or maybe it's all due to emissions.
The 22RE engine in my old 1980 toyota 4x4 had more pep and still got 27 MPG all day long.

I would like to know more about this removing secondary air filter??
Will this allow more dirt to enter the motor??
    Any MPG improvement?
Has anybody else removed this filter?

Will be filling up tomorrow, very interested in this tank.

Damn near on E but no light yet and I've gotten 410 out of this tank so far. Should shoot the MPG up pretty good, 2 more MsPG or so. Should put me in the 24-25 MPG range. And very little highway driving on this tank.

Freakin' awesome, damn I'm glad got rid of that gas hog 4.3L Blazer. Really like this 4 banger engine.

    Edit:
Filled her up this morning. Gas light came on on the way. Put 17.17 gallons in and got 412.9 on the triptik. Right around 24.04 MPG. Not bad, not bad at all.

Since day one, my 2010, 4-cyl, 2.7L,AT is consistently getting around 22-24 mpg on the freeway and a little bit over 17 mpg on city driving. I have 4k miles on it now since owning it on January.

Did you buy the truck new?

After installing my 33s and still running stock gears (3.307), I am getting 19.4 MPG in town. I have not done too much highway, so I don't know my MPG when I travel. I plan to install some new gears soon, so I am looking forward to seeing an increase in MPG and torque.

I never average my mileage but last year when I drove to Atlanta from New Orleans to pick things up from my storage unit, the whole trip came to 26 mpg. That's mixed driving and carrying a heavy load as well as making a side trip up the mountain with said heavy load to see a friend.
My truck is an 04 prerunner with a 4 speed auto and a 3" lift with stock tires and wheels.
