    I can see if it was an airplane when it came to keeping beyond nutty logs, but a lot of things can affect MPG that are partially out of the users control like: temps, a/c use, hills, wind, quality of fuel, temp that fuel was pumped at, etc.

    You're right about that, no doubt, there's a lot of general assumptions here. Based on what I know about my truck and how I thought the HG replacement went, I made a general guess on what the poor data and "experiment" was suggesting and it turned out I was right. All I'm saying is I like to know what's going on with my truck, and even with very bad data that was intended for cost tracking and budgeting, you can make some educated guesses on stuff instead of throwing parts at it.

    What if you did a time study analysis? Like plug the date in and plot the points by date. It looks like you'd already done that. Wouldn't really need to plug in variables lol
