Lets say I wanted to increase my mpg at any cost and making the money back wasnt a concern. No matter how small the increment, what DEFINITELY, w/o a doubt, proven, improves milage?

    D4D swap

Costs about $20k through dieseltoyz so it will never pay itself off.

More realistic, just keep your driving habits in check and enjoy better MPG's as a result.

Not sure quite why you would want to do this..

Tonneau cover, I have heard a electric fan helps.. and if you really reallly want to spend money, i have heard a supercharger.
And tires. Just get some of those no tread tires. :)

Red hot glass pack muffler dumped preaxle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front and modified zuk mod coil spring lift for about 2" in rear paired with 5100 also. C channel front bumper.
Two-speed rear end like some 3.23 and 4.88 lowsfor city high for hwy. Easier on Ur motor in city and higher gears obviously on hwy if it will still turn the wheels.

4.56 gears, rear trutrac,DT header, 235/85r16 Duratracs, 2nd filter pulled, inter.wipers, Cruise control, Factory alum. whls/winter tires(2nd set), Afe pro Dry-S , Dumbo eared flaps cut down.
1 Low roll friction tires, perhaps narrower even, with some light rims... you get to research the lightest.

2 synthetic diff, trans(if manual), motor oil, and xfer case

3 delete side mirrors, get some slick aero camera mod. (write this one up for us please).

4 gear swap ... down to 3,08, but that might get you banned here hehe.

5 the header guys often say they get more mpg.

6 the rest is mostly free, try adding tire psi ... to a point, shift below 2000 rpm if reasonable (manual), try to coast to lights .... if reasonable,

Tires and the synthetics are reasonable at some point. I think I got .5 -1 mpg on synthetics, but its real hard to truly measure accurately due to variables.

Make sure you have a good, clean air filter.

Don't carry around any unnecessary weight.

Over-inflate your tires by about 1 psi or maybe 2 psi max.

    Really good synthetic motor oil.

First thing you need to tell us is what kind of driving are you opimizing for? Changes that may help on the highway, may detract in city, and vice-versa.

Ehhh, my tanks without the S/c were consistently 15-17 mpg.. my first tank with boost was 12 and my driving habits didn't change. If I get around to it I will chime back in here with some updated MPGs.
