Do the old school method and track your miles next fill up. Thats too low for what you’re describing. I like to keep mine below 2k also but not always. If I can get it to hang near 1500, and that’s just moseying, I can get 21. Average 19. Same size tires as OEM and a tune. Try calculating it yourself for a tank ful. What’s your miles till empty say when you fill up?

@Blak Shinobi yah no beefy tires. Stock. U think it’s an actual truck issue or the mpg math on dash just isn’t accurate

in my opinion its not a truck issue , computer needs time to adjust to your driving habits. Short commutes and stop and go traffic doesnt help.So dont worry

Yea that’s low too. But it also is the trucks computer telling you that based on past mileage.

@Blak Shinobi ok makes me feel better. Where I live it is stop and go traffic but just doesn’t make since it’s gotten worse over the last three tanks

    Automatic or manual?
2k RPMs is pretty low for these engines power range.

Tire pressures, driving style, short vs. long trips where it doesn't even warm up, etc.... The computer calc is always around 1 to 1.5 MPG optimistic in my experience. Fill 'er up, reset trip ODO, drive, fill up again, divide miles driven by gallons put back in. I'm getting 21-22 in my easy commute to work (10 miles and mostly 45mph with relatively few stoplights). I recently took a trip from Virginia Beach to Camp Lejeune NC and got 26.9 mpg down US17 - almost no traffic and very few stops. Mostly 55-65 mph.

23 TRD OR DCLB here. For the 1st 2,000 miles I tracked my mpg the old school way. This is before I changed or added anything to the truck. The best I ever got was 19mpg, all interstate. I averaged 17 with city and highway. I was disappointed in those numbers as I haven't gotten gas mileage that bad since the 90's. But truck stuff I guess.

I have a '23 V6. I bought in the summer and was getting:

17-18 mpg during the warm months - Aug - Nov '23
    14-15 mpg during the cold months - Dec '23 - March '24
For April '24, I installed a cap, but seem to be back to 17 mpg

Mon-Fri is all city driving, and the weekend is a mix of city and highway.

These values are based on actual mileage and fill ups, and not on the computer.

I can make sense of the lower mpg during the cold months. I warm up the engine longer, plus it wouldn't surprise me if the engine ran more optimal during the warm months.

The thing that bothers me is a coworker has a 22 sr5. He gets 22-23 on the interstate. I'm assuming the difference has to b tires and rear gearing...?

Don’t trust a dash readout that provides a momentary screen shot. Need to drive through couple of tanks and fill ups, and compute based on total miles driven and number of gallons added at fill up. This is the only way to get reliable mpg information. Do this for a few months, and you will have real data to look at. I use the gas buddy application to track mileage.

I also have a 23 OR, stock tires. Mine is a manual - supposedly my mileage should be worse than an auto. I live in Astoria Oregon - picture a mini San Francisco. Lots of steep hills. Driving strictly within town, I get 14. On the road I easily get 19 - 20. Seems to me there is something wrong.

Stop paying attention to the computer, it's getting in your head.
Just drive it, enjoy it and calculate at the pump like everyone has said.

Dealership isn’t going to give any real answers or help. I recently got my truck too and the mpg has improved over time. I think you’re fine and just overthinking it.
