The BFG AT is quite a bit heavier than the stock tires and was just wondering for those of you who have upgraded to BFG AT tires, how much of a mpg loss if any have you noticed? And whether you have the 4 or 6cyl...

All that info is out there (many of times), it is dependent on the person, the size are you going to, what model you have, which transmission, are you a 4 or 6 cylinder, what area are you living and driving in, what load range tires, are you going to level? If you are a non OR are you removing the valence? Figure 1-2 give or take. Load range E 2 as well as a rougher ride. So many variables and so much info already out there and answered...

Well, the search tool can be a bit of a pain to find what you need.

Anyhow, I have 265/75/16 BFG KO2's Load Range E and I haven't noticed a difference in my MPG. I'm heavy footed as it is so.
    I also have a 4cyl.

I'd expect to lose about 3.141592654 MPG with the E2 BFG's on a TRD sport with valence removed and 17" TRD Pro wheels with a 3.5L V6 auto trans set to S5 while going up a 20 degree grade in 56.4ºf weather while it's foggy with a 10 MPH tailwind and your lights on.

Really though, I'm sure someone around here has a simple answer and will respond accordingly. I'm considering going to some AT tires on FN FX Pro wheels on my Sport and was kind of wondering the same thing.

I put a 3"/1" level kit with the stock 17" TRD Rock Warrior wheels and 275/70/17 BFG AT KO's on my Tundra and it wasn't any different at all from what I could tell. Averaged about 14 either way, haha.

I've got 3rd gen V6 with 265/70/17 KO2 C's. I'm in the SF Bay area so not flat, I'm finding I can get within a mile or so of stock MPG but I've got to work the throttle a bit more than with stock (I mean to get the best MPG I can get). Seems easier to make the MPG go down though.

Traction is the reason I went with the K02's .
Next more traction more aggressive tire like Super Swampers.
mpg . ride . noise mean little Traction =#1

I don't think I lost any at all. I got 265/70/17's C load, TRD Sport 4x4. They're set at a higher psi than stock (45psi) so that might be making up some difference, they also ride so much better than the stock tires.

Most people putting KO2s on their Tacoma seem to go from 265/70-16 to 265/75-16 (or similar for 17s). So the odometer will show 96.7 miles for every 100 miles driven. So if you were getting 20mpg with stock tires, 19.3 mpg would be exactly the same economy. It seems to be common to see people say they lost 1-2 mpgs, some of that is due to wheel size differences affecting the odometer, some of it due to weight/tire construction/etc. just a thought.

Somehow I don't think those that lift their trucks and put those heavy off road tires on them really care about fuel economy. Nor should they......

Agreed. I didn't lift mine, but did put the 265/70-17 KO2s load range C on it, and I think the odometer not calibrated to the new size is the biggest contributor to the *slight* change in MPGs.

OK, so I just filled up my truck so maybe I can answer this basic and simple question, all variable's aside. I have a 2013DCSB SR5, just installed a 2.5" lift, with BFG A/T Load E, 285/70/17. When the truck was stock, I had 245/75/16 I was getting 16 city, 19 hwy, I am now getting 14.5 city, HWY??TBD...Good thing this isn't my daily driver...hope this answers your question...

Did you check the speedo prior to install? I guarantee that it was off by about 2 mphs and putting a half size bigger didn't even it out. I had 285's on my FJ and the speedo was dead on my GPS, 2 mphs off to start with. Run an extra GPS and see what it says compared to the speedo.

My GPS seems to read about 1 mph faster than the speedometers. Wondering if going up to a 265/75/16 would put it just about right on.

Yep, it'll say you're going a mile or two faster than you are so a size larger should put you about dead on. It think every car I've owned has been that way, I guess it's just a margin of error on the safe side.

I have 265/70/17 BFG TA's and my MPG sucked before and after I put new tires on! No difference it just sucks...
