Just read the last 10 to 15 responses on this thread. I'm just sitting shaking my head. Whoever the guy is w/ the badge as his pic couldn't possibly be a cop. Not w/ this behavior. Or his profile. If I'm wrong, God help us. The rest of you, it's expected. Knock yourselves out. Is that 2 words or one?

Has anyone tried replacing the OEM belt-driven fan with an electric one? I tried this on my 2002 Dodge RAM 1500 before I got my Taco and it gave me a couple mpg's back. Just curious.

Removing the secondary air filter wont cause any harm to the motor, or is that just if you put in the high flow air filter?

Won't harm but it won't help anything. Oiled filter might.

no you got it wrong you carefully remove the secondary filter by first rmoving the air filter top part of the box there is a wire tie plastic that you have to carefully cut with out cutting the wire there is a whole at the bottom that a new wire tie can be installed and temporaly put a rag into the intake hose to keep out anything that can get in there remove the top part of the box there are six rivets all plastic and using a small size drill carefully drill a small stating hole into the center of the rivet don't drill to deep or you will accidently drill into the top cover and ruin it make sure you drill the whole size of the rivet out and then take a small flat blade screwdriver and carefully pry the secondary filter out and make that there are no plastic filter chips left from drilling and then re- install the top cover and get rid of the stock filter and install a k&n airfilter .I did mine and i noticed big performance gain the truck seams to have a six cylinder power than a four cylinder and my gas milage went up make sure that the intake hose is tight and the noch is in the slot and the clamp is tighten properly and install filter and close up and lock the airfilter box and injoy alot more throttle res-ponce and i didn't see any check engine light so enjoy also run a split dual exhaust big difference and it sounds cool

I got about 2 mpg's by taking the secondary filter out. It also helps (with the 4.0L, anyway) if you keep your speed <65 mph, and your acceleration < 2,000 RPM's.

That, not the secondary filter, can get you 2 mpg.
