Cut in half approximately. I am planning to do an e-fan swap in the next few days, as it still has the loud belt driven one.

Much of the road noise you hear comes from drag. The belly panel reduces the turbulent airflow. 12V Electric radiator fan*

Where did you get your belly panels? What material are they made of? Any problem with heat from the exhaust system?

They are made of 4mm coroplast. I got them from Piedmont Plastics for $10 per 96''x48'' piece. There is plenty of clearance with the pipe and I cut out a small hole for the cat so there wouldn't be any issues.

Would that mod apply to 2nd gens?

Yes Mikey needs to really do a writeup on all of his DIY mods

I'm right at 2000 RPM @ 70mph, but I have a V6, lift, and 285/75/16 tires so I really have no business even looking at this thread, but it's always nice to know if you can improve something.

I will have tires *almost that big, and a lift, and I still think you/we can look for improvements here. I personally would not mind paneling some parts of the truck and removing/replacing the antenna and wipers like Mikey did.

If anything, the lift and tires are more incentive for you to boost MPGs!

I might be willing to do that if there's interest. Which mod are you referring to, the fan or the panels? I would say yes to either one.

I just think that in general anything you do to your truck you should make a thread about!

But you, in particular, are attempting something unheard of here. I'm sure many would follow you, they just need to see how!

But what do I know, I posted a leaf-spring refurbishment thread to track the progress of my lift-in-progress and it has no replies. So maybe I'm wrong about it all. But I still think you should do writeups so we all can try our own hand at the MPG biz.
