Are any mods (intake, exhaust, etc) worth it to help mpg? I have an 06 4.0 on 265's.

Not really. You'd have to spend a lot to see a small increase.

Depending on your tires, lighter weight stock size P-load highway tires.

Otherwise good maintenance to keep the mpgs up to where they should be. No 'mod' is going to in increase fuel economy.

Don't drive so heavy footed in the city and stay under 70 on the freeway. I'm 17.5 combined and 21 on the freeway doing that

Best ROI on MPG is the Ultra gauge- just drive to the gauge. Full synthetics was probably my next. Supercharger and my BFG E load tires are probably my worst ROI on MPG but life cant be all about MPG can it :burnrubber:

Driving style is the cheapest, most effective way to increase MPG.

Weathertech floor liners moded to hold OEM floor mats, weathertech vent visors, Toyota bed mat, LEER 100XL cap, hood gasket mod to stop whistling.
Over the years I've tried K&N, the Tornado, tonneau covers, and synthetics, nothing worked as well as driving style.

Intake and exhaust will definitely NOT help mpg.

    :rofl::rofl::rofl:

If that's true, you shouldn't have let it get that bad to begin with.

If you are speaking of some aftermarket rig, I call shenanigans.

Slowing down and learning how to drive efficiently are the only cost effective things you can do. I've seen a few modifications that will make very small differences, but you won't see enough gains in fuel economy to pay for them. Driving on tires with an aggressive tread pattern even in the same factory size will cost you about 2 mpg. If you have already gone to tires with poor rolling resistance that can be corrected.

I've seen evidence that a bed cover can make a small difference. Once again not enough to ever pay for the expense, but if someone is thinking about buying one anyway that helps justify the expense. Putting a cap on doesn't seem to affect fuel mileage either way.

I've seen conflicting test results about driving with the tailgate down or removed. Some tests show VERY slight differences, and about half show fuel mileage worse, half better. But once again, at best you might save $100-$200 over the course of 200,000 miles. Backing into something with the gate down and damaging it will cost you a lot more than that.

Actually they can, but the fuel savings are insignificant considering the up front investment.

    Some stuff...
Lemme just say that a Supercharger and heavy foot definitely don't help. :anonymous:

Edit: Intake, Supercharger, exhaust + larger wheels and tires.

I have the TRD exhaust on my truck which has an annoying droan at all but the lowest RPMs. I find that it helps remind me to keep my foot out of the gas peddle, which improves my mpg..
