    Sort of... The lower gears will just put your rpms in a higher range at any given speed. So if you're right on the cusp of needing to shift, the higher gear (4.56) will cause it to shift, whereas the lower 4.88s it will be higher in the power band and not need to shift.

    But that is essentially like riding in a lower gear than you normally would all the time.

    I think I suggested earlier in the thread to hunt around for one of those on-line gear calculator tools. You put in your tire size, axle gears, etc, and rpms at certain speeds, then you can make adjustments to your gears/tire sizes and trey to match what you currently have.

    YOu can also use this as a way to adjust for certain deficiencies, like if you want it to sit a few hundred RPM higher at 65 than it currently does, that's a way to help you decide which gears to choose.
