Right now I’ve been driving like a grandpa. All the cars I’ve ever owned I like to take it really easy the first 1500 miles. Granted it only takes me about 3 weeks to put it on too, due to work commute.

I'm averaging about 20-21 mpg on my weekly commute and that's on surface streets. I usually travel about 30 miles round trip with the fastest area being around 50 mph.

I thought the offroad didn't come with one, so I guess you bought one after the fact.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. Really shouldn't be any difference in MPGs between the SR5 and OR otherwise.

With over 1000lbs of steel, gear, and people, also heavier tires 1 inch bigger than stock, and a rtt slightly above the roof line, my trd OR gets about 15 in the city and 16-17 on the highway

City driving I am 15-18. Highway 19-21 on average. I did get 23 today on the highway, pretty stoked on that one!

I too wonder if higher elevations help mpg. I live at 7,500 ft and my truck hasn't been below 4,000 ft for over a year and a half. I run 85 octane and have never heard a ping.

Do you guys think there's a difference between the short bed and the long bed?? Do those few extra inches catch more air thats coming over the cab?? I have a DCLB OR with just under 4k miles on it. I've done mostly city commute driving, albeit my commute is about 5 miles, and a few trips down to the Bay Area and I've seen my tanks average anywhere from 15.5 to 18.5. I've gotten the meter on the dash to say over 20MPG on a few occasions, but that's usually short lived and shoots back down once I get back to my city driving. And I've noticed thats only when I fill up RIGHT before leaving on my mostly freeway trip. I'm definitely not seeing anything close to or over 20MPG on a consistent basis..

Absolutely, less wind resistance due to lower air density.

Winter = 22-23 mpg highway commute
Summer = 23-24 mpg highway commute

My commute is about 80% highway.

37psi. Stock tires. Tonneau. Fairly easy on pedal. Tank avg usually between 21 and 22 mpg.

I had a 16 dclb sr5 4x4 and was regularly getting 22+ mpg. I've had my dcsb off-road for a week and I don't think I've seen it over 22 mpg once. I took the air dam off the sr5 right after I got it. I think the biggest difference is the tires. The sr5 essentially had minivan tires. Even on the road, these were prone to spinning when the road was a little wet starting from stop signs and red lights.

I kept the air dam from the sr5 and may stick it on the off-road, but it never really made much of a difference on the sr5. Maybe 1mpg on the highway at best and no difference in city driving.

A little more weight from the longbed may make a small difference.Larger tire size def makes a difference.

I live in the mountains, and I typically get 17-18 avg per tank. I tend to get better mileage in the sticks than the highway, and I attribute that to the amount of coasting down hills. On purely Highway trips, I've seen up to 24mpg average.

Lower air pressures on an NA motor means less compression. That's why you can run 85 octane up high. Means truck makes even less Hp than at sea level. At 7000 ft you would be making close to 20% less horsepower than at sea level.

??Is that something I should be worried about? My truck is 4X4 off-road. Should I have checked that when I bought the truck?
