the inaccurate mpg on the window stickers, testing area with a tail wind and a slight downhill.
Your mpg with the 3rd gen are definitely better than ours.

So how Do you determine your MPG, or in your case, the mileage per liter. I'm not sure of the Metric your using.

I don't worry about my mpg but when I am checking it out I use the scanguage. I use the US gallon.

Sorry if I've sounded like a prick, I'm sorry. I'm glad your using a Scangauge. I want to get one, because I'm confident that's probably the most accurate depiction of our MPG, for the price point.

Your the only person who bit on what I asked about "the metric being used" because your using the most accurate way to determine it. (Within reason)

Some people really believe that sticker sheet or what the dash display tells them. It's really as easy as dividing the total gallons added per given fill up vs miles traveled. To figure out the MPG. It isn't super correct but it more accurately representing the true MPG per given tank.

no worries! with the price of gas going up it can be painful filling up every 5 days or so.

Yeah, that's what I do. AVG about 17 MPG with mostly city and very brief freeway intervals. On a recent trip to the Bay Area I was at about 19.0 MPG and that was with brand new 265/75/16's on there. On the way back I did a bit better and was over 20 MPG. Usually though, that in dash MPG display rarely goes over 17 MPG..

My truck doesn’t tell me MPG so this is the only way for me to calculate fuel economy. What makes you think it isn’t very accurate? As long as your odometer isn’t off it’ll literally tell you the miles/gallon.

Hand calculated MPG is the most accurate in my book. Done every tank on all my vehicles and keep track on Fuelly. I use the guess-O-meters on the dash as instant entertainment.

Imperial gallon = 4.55 litres, US gallon = 3.785L. Why they can get away with advertising imperial MPG it is beyond me, we haven't used miles or gallons in nearly 40 years. The only number that should be there is l/100km.

The l/100km numbers converted to US MPG, would be 18.2mpg city and 24.5mpg highway. Still inaccurate if it's a 4.0L V6 but not completely ridiculous.

I hand calculate mine --same as I've done for decades. Every fill-up. Have been averaging 22.9 for the first 4 tanks I've put thru this truck. Expect to drop down to 20-21 now that we're on the winter blend. I've noticed that the dash display calculation is a couple tenths optimistic. I only use it as indicator of how I'm doing, relatively, for the current tank.
