So recently I have started calculating my MPG and I'm seriously concerned about my results. In the city I'm getting anywhere from 12 to 15 and on the highway I'm averaging just shy of 19. I recently drove to Montana from northern Utah and at best I got 18.5. Now maybe I'm calculating this wrong, by no means is it going to be an exact measurement, but I feel like it shouldn't be this low.

I'm currently thinking I might need to get it tuned for the altitude because I live at 5,000ft. However I am no expert and I would like some advice on what or how I could remedy this.

The only mod I have is a 2.5" toytec lift kit right now.

Well shit, I figured it would be at least close to the advertised mileage.

Maybe a little low with regards to just 18.5 on your trip, but what was the speed limit? If it's a 70mph Zone and you do 80 like me, you really start to do no favors by way of mpg.

That being said, I drive 23miles each way to work and about 5 in each direction is through town. I get roughly 19mpg overall now with A/C running everyday.

I was doing 75 the whole way(minus construction and what-not). It's a good week if I get anywhere near 300 miles to a tank. What app is that?

Yup anything over 65 is brutal on mileage

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
And there's your problem. Anything over 60 to 65 is detrimental to your MPG (unless going downhill the whole way). I use fuelly.com to track my mileage and my overall average is 18.5 since day 1. Worse on short drives. Better on long ones. I drive 3 hrs to work at 70 and get 19 to 19.5, but that's it.

I also use Fuelly and as you can see my MPG is right there where yours is OP.

22-23 mpg is what I get. Fj TRD wheels and 265/70R16 tires. Just added TRD exhaust well see if I get more.

Hey OP, did you put larger tires on your truck with that lift?

Is it a 4WD, which is heavier even when in 2WD? That is the same mileage I get or close.

Bought my 08 TRD 4x4 AC in July. Did one road trip over Stevens pass with a/c on part time. I got 18+. Since then it's gone down and down. I drive 15 miles each way to work and I don't do over 63. Last fill-up I got 13.5! I get 15 in my 1991 V6 doing the same... that dropped to 13.5 with the "winter blend" gas.
I hate to see what I get with this truck and the "winter blend"!
I'm gonna have to get rid of these 33's!

I'm averaging around 15 city driving. I'm thinking about cutting holes in the floor boards so I can get a few more miles by Fred Flintstone'ing from stops.

Sorry for some reason I'm not getting notifications from this thread anymore. Anyway, the tires it had on it at the time of this post were 235/85/16's. I have since gotten rid of those and gone to 285/75/16's. Which has decreased my mileage even more but I'm over it. My profile pic is before lift and tires so I wouldn't pay any attention to that
