I'm gonna guess a big lift, oversized mudterrains, and a heavy foot. Double the fuel troubles if it's an older truck with a pushrod V8.

Those are what usually does it.

Assuming all of us need to meet and understand your usage case is a bit of a stretch. I would rather view the 90% use case for Toyota Tacomas than the 10% use case. Your situation... Sure you have to be concerned about range. You will on any vehicle. The vast majority of us do not share your concerns and don't need to check that box

It’s literally a poll where I added my use case and you replied to me saying it’s irrelevant. I then explained why mpg matters for me and now you’re trying to act like I’m telling others what to do. No. I’m explaining why it matters to me.

    Piss off with this.

Yeah, that doesn't even count our 4Runner or my work vehicle.

DAMN! that's a lot of driving! Even though these things aren't the most fuel efficient, the general lack of unexpected repairs kind of makes up for it. :)

I’m somewhere in the middle with my truck. I still get 21-22mpg on the highway because I’m only on 265/75/16 tires and I don’t have any armor. But I’m fighting a mental battle everyday to stop myself from going back up to 33”s lol

I drive my truck all over North America, on and off-road, so being able to get more miles out of each tank is huge for me.

    Pics for fun.

I know how to achieve decent MPG - and it is not shifting at 4K RPM . . .
I also know how to make my truck move and I choose the latter.
    Smiles/gallon

If I ever need to be concerned with MPG - I'm gonna buy an older Honda V6 MT and still enjoy what I'm driving at least..

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
All the vehicles I drive get used to work !!

Hauling or towing between 500 pounds to 80,000 pounds +

Fuel mileage is figured on an average round trip mileage.

    For the most stock !

Though the 3406 might have been tuned up . The Fords had bigger turbos and exhaust brakes !

I did run lugger tires many unimproved job site start up jobs.

Very true! For my lifestyle I need a pickup, but also my current financial situation means I'm not purchasing extra vehicles, such as a commuter car. As much as I'd love to keep the miles off my Taco, the housing market and Michigan Insurance is no joke.

All the little easy stuff. Locking console box, led interior lights, bed lights, gas cap holder, wide angle split mirrors, sequential mirror lights,
The other day, not long after getting my new truck, I was driving it and realized I had smiled so much my lips were stuck to my teeth.

though honestly, the truck is really mundane to drive compared to a sports car, so smiles per gallon quotient is not great either...
