Screenshot_20180430-222313~2.jpg I read it as 3.2 gallons left when the low fuel light comes on. Your range will still show the estimated miles left for that fuel. If your range reads zero, I'm guessing you're walking shortly thereafter.

Naw, low fuel light comes on, about a half gallon later your range goes to zero and you can still go 50 miles or so. No big deal.

And then filled up, or were you walking? I know on my Fords you still have a couple gallons left after it hits 0.

Toyota is the most conservative make when it comes to these. Tacoma has at least 2 gallons when you are at 0 miles. The Tundra has close to 5-6 gallons left in the tank when you hit 0 miles to go

I use MPG as an indicator for how well/how poorly my truck is running. If my MPG drops suddenly, I know something is up. I don't care about $/mile, miles/$ whatever... that is what it is.

@ChadsPride said it the best... Smiles per gallon. I like that.

I have averaged about 19mpg in my MT 2.7 4x4 since new. All town and hilly back roads, driving like a grandma.

On my current tank I have driven it with abandon, with TRAC off, and I am averaging about 22mpg so far. And that's with the air dam off.

Does the air dam make a big difference? Just saw a guy putting one on his TRD OR

Maybe on the highway at high speed, but I haven't done any driving over 65mph.

The dams help at consistent highway speeds mostly in 5th or 6th gear. Around town, under 45 mph, not so much. If you've got a nice smooth skid plate like the TRD Pro, it goes a long way to help under carriage aerodynamics. I read all of that on the internet so it must be so.

Here is my most recent Fuelly data on my 2016 TRD Sport double cab, short bed, AT 4x4. I am currently running at 22.5 MPG and I expect that to go up a little as we transition to summer gas in the Seattle area. I also just installed a tonneau cover and I will be interested to see if that has any impact.

For me, I just think it's a bit annoying that this truck gets about 15 mpg when plenty of full size trucks are getting that with a V8. Not a huge deal, I just wish I had the power on tap like a V8 does.

I got 75 MPGs on a trip coming down Pikes Peak. Started up with 20 miles to "empty" and was at zero at the top. Came down mainly in neutral with the brakes a tad warm. Put over 21 gallons in. I still can't believe I didn't get a pic...
