Uhhh...so, I think I’m at 15.8 right now. But, I have a RTT, awning, 285’s and about 1k lbs in the 4R for the road trip

No worries brother. I was just trying to make a point that I am not one to care about MPG or else I would’ve bought a hybrid. I just enjoy my truck irregardless of MPG. I knew what I was buying, and it wasn’t a Prius....makes sense? Was trying to lighten the serious mood in this thread about MPG. MPG is a discussion best had on hybrid or electric vehicle forums, certainly not truck forums...that’s all.

Yup understandable. It's for some and not others. While not the biggest factor, it's always something I consider when I mod any car. I'm gonna be sticking 17's and 285/70/17's on my truck. It definitely won't help my MPG's, but I'm going to try not to hurt it as much as possible so I'm taking weight into consideration. I want my truck to be a truck and be as fun as possible, but I want it to be as efficient as possible. Everyone here probably loves their truck and just wants to turn it from a mass produced truck to THEIR truck, and I love that. Everyone is different. For some people a truck isn't for them, and they love their prius. They mod it to get to the most mpg's. The weirdest people, to me, are the ones that just buy a car to go from point A to point B. WTF is up with that?!!?! I don't get it, but I wish everyone the best. Cheers, brutha.

Speaking as someone who has a Tacoma, a RAV4 and a Prius...use the right tool for the job. ;)

Honestly, with what a Tacoma costs, Toyota could build a hybrid Tacoma that would have a small electric only range and be an even more capable off road vehicle. The 4WD system adds about 500lbs to a tacoma. Put this weight towards an electric motor at each front wheel and battery packs. Have enough battery power onboard for about a 10 mile range (electric only). This would cover 50% of the short trips people make in town.
For highway driving, use the gasoline motor.
Off road, the combination of both front and rear would be deadly! Instant 100% torque with lightning quick vectoring for the front electric wheel motors would be phenomenal.

I held out as long as I could but it didn't happen. Seems to me a solar electric would be a decent off grid apocalypse traveler. All the lunar/Mars rovers have been electric.

That's fantastic! I just got 23.06 MPG over 404 miles on a trip to the interior, so going up from sea level. Pretty full load, motorcycle on the bumper carrier. A little dissapointed, actually.

That's not bad all things considered. Was it on the front? That would screw with aerodynamics. Even on the back it would hurt some.
