I see now why we're driving 125,000 miles and needing a truck... to go back and forth delivering all of those books:

    I remember those days!

I thought it was awesome when gasoline went back down to 99 cents/gal in 1999 here in the PNW.
It was great for filling up a leased 1999 F250 XLT superduty/supercab 4X4 with 5.4 liter and 5 speed manual trans.

Lease was $179/ mo. for 24 months and I used Ford/Citibank 5% credit card rebates from remodeling home for the down payment.

I never worried about my mileage but it can be a challenge to see just how high you can get it.

Driving like a grandpa gets old pretty quickly tho so I opt to get 21-22 vs 24 for the sake of having a little fun rowing the gears.

I think math may not be your best subject. It is definitely more than $150 in those extreme cases but nowhere near $7500.

Unless maybe you actually used 125000 as your annual driving distance but I doubt too many people drive that in a year.

The original post was corrected , but it was at 125K per year . He meant 12500 . this would = aprox 740 per year .

I had my gen 2 Tacoma for 10 years and put 125000 miles on it. So if I drove like a granny I would have save $150 Per year. So not worth it! If I wanted to save gas I surely wouldn’t have bought a truck.

MPGs get me from point a) to point c)

    b) would have been the gas pump

b+) would have been the jerry cans I filled up so I didn't run out of gas.

I care cause I overland... but as long as I am over 15mpg in city so probably around 17-19 hwy/dirt roads, I’m good. Currently sitting at 16 mpg in city.

Pretty sure we are all gonna be riding in pods that run on millennial student debt and electricity so I think we should enjoy our dinosaur burning gas guzzlers while we still can. Hammer down bitches

I never grumbled about MPG nor have I started a thread about it. You asked... I answered.

Mpg also means less trips to the gas station.

The whole Gas conservation is just a part of how i live my whole life. I am an extremely conservative person in general. Yea i might only save $200 a year by driving a little slower on take offs and timing the stop lights when i brake. But I also don't go inside the gas station, i mean literally I haven't been inside a gas station but once or twice a year. (at $3 a day there is another $1095 a year) You know when you get a Credit Card offer and they send the return envelope with it. I save those and re use them. I keep my heat set on 66, and 60 at night, you get used to it. Leftovers for lunch everyday. Do all of my own maintenance on the house and the trucks. ect..... So yea, I check my mpg's, the old fashion way with my trip OD. But its a way bigger picture!

I bought gas in the late 60’s for $0.22 a gallon. That’s history.

This reads like many Jeep Wrangler mpg threads. It’s a Jeep, what did you expect? My Jeep broke down, what did you expect?

I complain about the Tacoma’s mpg when it gets worse mileage on a same path my 4x4 Ram with a Hemi did. Much worse when I used the cruise control which I have stopped using. The Taco does better in town.

This is a Tacoma built by Toyota. Not a Jeep or a huge Ram. What did we expect?
