It has nothing to do with money for me. It has to do with efficiency and time management. My average MPG is just a baseline measurement to let me know what to aim for and how to adjust my current driving behavior to spend the most amount of time on the road and the least amount of time at the pump. $150 a year I have, I don’t have time to waste.

Lol, is this a Troll? You don’t have five mins to spare once a week? Jeez you must literally be the busiest man on earth.

Are you the worlds most important brain surgeon or someone who films the Kardashian’s or something?

You spent time typing that message. You must be able to squeeze a refuel in.

I didn’t read most of this and I drive a 35+ plus mpg civic now.

The biggest complaint I would have is the fluctuations on the Tacoma. Certain driving conditions I could get 24 mpg and in others it would drop to 14. Of course weight, stop n go, freeway, headwind etc play a factor.

Of course you go into it knowing the stated mpg. Its just sad when full size trucks are getting better mpg than a Tacoma. I won’t buy a tundra which I want to right now because of it’s crappy gas mileage compared to other full size trucks out there. But a ford ecoboost? If it wasn’t Ford I’d think about it.

When I had my Tacoma I tried to get the best mpg I could because I was driving 20-25k miles a year. A lot of these were pleasure miles, so the money saved in gas goes to an nice hotel or a nice lunch on vacation etc.

Nope, I have no time to spare doing mindless things just for the sake of doing them. I always wonder why people do things without reason.

What do you expect to happen when daddy trades in the minivan for a double cab short bed Tacoma?
I wonder how bad it is over on Tundra forums when father trades in the 2016 double cab Tacoma (because 'muh 3rd kid on the way' and car seats) for the 2018 Tundra?
When your Sienna got 26mpg and now your Tundra gets 14, but 'muh once-a-year Lowe's trips' and 'needa 4 wheel drive'

but on the real though...you're complaining about "can't believe so many threads about MPG" I could say the exact same thing about how all Tacoma threads fall into 1 of 3 categories
    1. Guys, I just bought the exact same wheels, tire and lift as EVERY.SINGLE.OTHER.PERSON on this forum, what do you think??
    2. Got rear ended. What do you think? Totaled or not?
      • Hope I can talk insurance into footing the bill for brand new ARB armor!
    3. I really want the TRD pro, but I don't have any money. I'm trading in my 2015 DCSB TRD OR, you think I'll be satisfied with the AC 4cyl SR trim??

Agreed... but basically I think it comes down to the green fever everyone seems to have.
Eco freiendly save save save, 100 percent efficient, low emmissions paranoia the industry is pushing for.

My real question is how will it work with 2 fuel types? Electric and gas?

I think the way its going we are going to be forced ( based on price) to use electric hybrid cars. Manufactures are going all in on this.
Gas will be pre historic in 10 years.

I don't worry too much about mpg from a financial stand point as I'm not a high mileage driver, but do keep track of it as I think it can be a good indicator of the health of your engine/drive train. Not too long ago I drove a 4Runner and it got crappy mpg, but it was a wonderful vehicle so I didn't give a crap about that either. Prior to that I drove a Dodge Ram V8, I think around model year 2005 or so, and good grief, no matter what I did, 10-12 mpg was the best that beast would do and it wasn't that peppy in return for guzzling so much gas. That I wasn't happy with.

The day I start sweating the mpg's I'm getting on the Taco, is the day I'll put it up for sale. Not anytime soon.

I bet they rolled up in a Prius right?

When you buy a truck you pretty much know what you're getting into. I'd hope the person that buys it doesn't budget on getting what the MPG sticker claims, because that's how you know they're broke. If an extra few bucks are going to bust the bank it's time to buy a Prius.
