LOL , fuel consumption was clearly an afterthought.

Looks like it came straight from the SEMA show.

Fuel Consumption - Something to consider prior to the bigger and badder build.

    Increased Rolling resistance
    Increased aerodynamic drag
A ~ half ton ~ or more of additional weight.

OP or whoever might want to compare,
Here is my dash on my normal commute. I’m in 6th. To work stays in 6th. From work kicks down to 5th a lot due to road incline/decline. 16.6 mpg is mileage reset at highway and about 25 miles of pure 55mph. It will start to drop as soon as I get off the highway.

Again, I have 33” grapplers, 4” RC, cap.

My truck originally came with 295/55/20 with a spacer lift, bought it used. Granted I don't have a camper and bumper up front but I am still getting 18-19 mpg, but do have a nice noise maker on the roof.

These two things are what I did to help keep the mpg that I still do on the truck, I purchased this
    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/2016-dcsb-4x4-and-general-bs.495239/#post-16100901
which helped keep the speedo accurate.

I also removed the 295/55/20's with the fuel hostage wheels and found me a good set of SCS's for my truck, each wheel I gained 20lbs per wheel and then another 6-7lbs per tire when I went to a 285/75/16 tire plus gained about a 1/2" of height by doing so.

You have a good looking rig

Yes, you choose your original tire size and then tell it what size your currently running. This would help with your calculations for your mpg.

That and gives you an accurate speed reading, accurate mph and accurate mpg.

Stop and go means having to get all that mass moving many times.
A re-gear should help a little. It won’t solve everything, but it should be better as well as give you some acceleration back.

Is the hypertec just a plug and play?

And the re gear is like switching out gears?
    Correct?
Sorry I’m not educated on any of this...

Didn't see anywhere but maybe I missed it. Did you calculate your mileage the old fashion way?

Yes it is, there is a video on u tube that shows the basic install. You install it behind your dash, you unplug the harness and what not on the back of your dash. Very simple, takes about 20 min to do.

Have you done the updates on your truck from the dealer as well, TSB's?

Plug the box into a computer and set original and new tire size. If gears were changed include before and after gear ratios the calibrate. The remove instrument cluster (easy) and plug harnesses in. Put back together and vióla...

Re-gear means pulling the diffs and changing the ring and pinion setting preload and backlash and such... There’ll be a diff fluid change or two following the install during break-in.

Divide miles driven by gallons used. For example, 100 miles driven by 5 gallons is 100 divided by 5 which is 20mpg. Fill tank, drive, and refill tank to determine gallons used.

Dude sweet rig, ok so after a bunch of reading you have a lot of weight. Looks like you "didn't" go with any cheap parts from what I can see. The tires are great brand and will last "GONITTO" but they are probably an E-F rating which makes them super heavy for a lite truck. What kind of lift did you put on it, BRAND-SPECS?
PS what kind of grill is that, does it mess with your sensor?

Just reset your trip when you fill up, makes it a little easier. Also wait and run your tank down before you check it.
