I have checked mine manually several times and the on screen number has been pretty close each time, less than a half a MPG. If someone has a different tire size I can see it being wildly inaccurate.

Mine has given me as much as 26mpg but I know it isnt accurate. Never accurate in any vehicle ive driven. Never was. Even before the Sema 17’s and Kbro’s it was the same differential. Just like every vehicle ive ever driven. Not saying in your case it isn't possible, at least you see the value in checking.

I just cannot believe how many people trust the in dash and never realize what it actually is. I promise everyone that if they have to fill up in the 270 gallon range, they arent close to 22mpg. Not even close. Even if you get 300 miles on a tank and put in 17 gallons, your still only at 17.6 mpg.

Yeah I don't like to trust computers for everything, when I checked, l also used the same gas station and pump just to limit variables.

I wonder who makes the gas for circle k? never seen it in Jersey. I switched to Gulf a few months ago, mpg's and performance are seem worse.

You get it. In another life I dealt with fuel scheduling for some sophisticated engines and machinery. Never in a million years could we trust what the computer told us. It was always, always an over shoot of what is really happening. Those situations back then taught me to always second guess any displayed data and to always, when possible, pull out a calculator to figure it out myself.

Its strange how when I get into my truck right after I fill up, it tells me 375 miles till empty. Im lucky to get 300. The computer is projecting numbers and IDK what Its looking at to decide that. BUT if we multipy 22 (mpg) by 17 gallons (my usual fill up), the math comes out to 374.

It’s almost like the projected average MPG, per tank is not being taken from the actual miles driven, but by the estimated number of miles on the tank after the fill up. Either way the data doesnt jive. Logically it does not make sense.

    I hope that made sense.

Gasoline is also seasonal. You will see less MPG’s in the Winter because of it. Winter gas is different, I don’t want to give you bad info as to why, but it is.

I was around 16mpgs in my truck with 50/50 city and highway a few months ago. About 1.5mpgs better than my 2nd gen according to my Fuelly.com records. Currently my commute changed to more city and way less highway not to forget the winter blend fuel so I am around 13mpgs with 80% city driving and in 4x4 often (snow). Im in New England so hilly and cold as balls out. Honestly it is what it is. My father has a Sport 4x4 LB and sees around 16 all around city but its bone stock.

That’s actually a decent point. Here I was thinking we were just making another thread to complain about things.

"Not sure why people purchase our trucks and then worry about gas mileage". Uh, because they are little trucks. I drove a Ford F350 with a V10 for 13 years before I got this 2017 Tacoma. It did better than 11/12.5 mpg unless I was hauling hay or cattle.

No I will stay with my 18 mpg Tacoma. 11 or 12 would not acceptable from a truck this size was the point I was trying to make.

Maybe because it wastes money? Maybe because some of the mileage posted here would be acceptable in the 70s? (I do realize some of you have lift and tires and armor etc.) And no, I should not have bought a Prius.

In 2nd gen days, 6MT 4x4 was the worst combination for mileage. Just curious, is the sticker 21 combined specific to your particular configuration and 6MT or just for a generic V6 Tacoma?

Lift and tires helps justify it.

I agree with the guys who do the manual calculations based on fuel volume at the pump vs km driven. My stock sport gets around 13l/100 km or 18 miles/USG give or take on mostly highway. The computer seems a bit optimistic.

21 mpg on the sticker they took off the window. don't misunderstand, I will drive the wheels off this thing. The point is the sticker should match or close, to what I am getting. winter gas, driving habits, truck learning...etc. we will see.

Really, on my new 18 trd sport with the m6 with only 3,000 miles I'm seeing 22-23 at around 70mph. When I drop my speed down to 50-55mph I can achieve 26mph.

Check this out. I know it's a gen 2 but it got better mileage than the window sticker.

I’ve gotten to the point that I just stopped keeping track, since my speedo and odo are off I have no idea how to accurately calculate it now anyways. I can go 5 days going to work and home instead of 6 now after the lift so about 320 miles mainly aggressive highway driving so that isn’t bad for me.
