Unfortunately, the trash can in the bathroom looks a lot like the camping commode and he failed to switch back to indoor plumbing mode once we got home. He really liked using the bucket I guess lol.

My wife was less than amused.

I failed to explain to him that not every trash can is a toilet. My bad. I did not expect the high from pooping in a bucket to be quite the rush it was for him lol.

I did this once at a house party. The bathrooms were all being used so I snuck into the side yard / dog run thinking i'd just take a shit. I got done dropping a large steamer and before I could start wiping the dog in the run started scarfing it down like it was pumpkin pie filling. So I wiped, threw my shit rags in the bonfire and bounced.

I later see the dog outside the run and he literally had a shit eating grin. The dog was white coloring with shit stained cheeks.

Like many here I favor the Home Depot bucket (I like the big 'Do It' logo on the bucket, I find it encouraging). I line with biodegradable bags and top with a snap on seat. We use coconut kafir to absorb moisture and smell. Just a sprinkle ontop after you go and snap the seat closed. Change and bury the bag every 4th day. The bags we use say they start breaking down after 5 days of moisture exposure. I try not to risk that 5th day. (Also, if it's just pee it doesn't go in the bucket, keep your liquids separate)

We try to setup our bucket some place pretty with a view. I appreciate walking up and seeing 'DO IT'. Sitting down and surveying the landscape. Then unleashing the hell that comes from cheap beer and camp food.
