I used Corsair for years until I had 3 out of 4 bad sticks in a batch. I switched the G Skill and I've never looked back.

Looks like the manufactures that use Samsung chips in their RAM usually score better in real world tests for some reason. I know G Skill only uses Samsung modules now. I don't know about the rest.

Thanks. I was pretty excited for Ryzen and it took all of my being to wait for the Ryzen 5. When I saw the stats and reviews on Ryzen 7 I knew it wasn't for me, that chip is a Broadwell-E slayer for guys who stream and edit piles of video but it's not really tuned for games, even the multi-thread supporting games can't make use of 8 real cores. A 6 core 12 thread setup is perfect at a $225 price point including cooler. At the speed you can take Ryzen up to, around 4.0 Ghz, it runs just behind a 4.8 Ghz Skylake i5 in per core performance but trounces it if you do anything that can make use of multiple cores and threads. Plus the fact that a B350 board gives you every single top end feature except Crossfire, which I don't need, at half the price of Intels boards, yeah I was sold. The bonus that my company is giving me work load that will run 50-60% faster on this processor over my Kaby Lake i5 is just the gravy on top. Now all I need is liquid cooling lol.

Pretty much every reviewer is saying go with the Ryzen 1600 if you are building a gaming rig right now. AMD has successfully released a processor to compete with Intel in the two places it counts, dollar for dollar and watt for watt. The fact that it's about 10% slower per core than Intel is covered up well by the extra threads and cores that AMD is giving out at the same price point. I didn't know if AMD had it in them to catch up to Intel, but it looks like they did. Best part is that Ryzen still needs to be optimized for games and apparently there is a roadmap for Ryzen over the next four years to follow up Intels move to 10nm. Fun stuff, hopefully this will drive Intel to lower their price point and innovate again.

Went with water cooling and the new RGB G Skill Trident Ram. Really cleaned up the look and the Ram effects look amazing. Can't say enough about how awesome the effects are actually, it's not just light up Ram. Check out YouTube if you want to see what it can do, the controller is still in Beta but I got it working with an AM4 B350 board. Only drawback is I've had issues hitting the 3200 MHz rated speed. I'm up to 2933 MHz right now though and if you know anything about overclocking with the Ryzen that's pretty good for non certified AMD ram. I'm confident I can get 3200 MHz somehow. It is the same chip as in some of the other products that hit 3200 MHz no problem, I might just have to do some digging around in BIOS to get the timings to work out.

Oh and the water cooler creams AMD Wraith. Now with the Wraith I used the stock thermal paste since I knew I'd be pulling off the cooler once I got my compatability with AM4 figured out. With the H60 I went with my go to Arctic Silver 5. So there is probably 5c right there just with far better paste. However I'm now running 20c cooler at idle and when running Prime95. Ryzen loves AIO's apparently lol.

Does AMD have xmp profiles like Intel boards? That's the only way my ram would hit it's advertised speeds.

Yes and no. It's called AMP (figure that one out jks) and it's not exactly XMP. You can enable it but usually you don't get the exact same speeds as XMP with an Intel chip. For example when I enabled AMP I only went from 2133 MHz up to 2400MHz. Manually I'm now up to 2933 MHZ.

AMD is working on BIOS updates to get AMP and XMP synced up. No guarantees though that the max advertised XMP speeds will line up to the AMP speeds, I think we could see some AMP specific Ram coming out fairly soon. I just felt the need to upgrade now because the Ram was the bottleneck in my system at 2133 MHz. At 2933 Mhz I'm seeing 10-20% improvement in frame rates.

Just to reiterate from early though, AMD is having memory issues in general. If your chips aren't made from certain Samsung batches good luck running it on an AMD4 board. I only went off the wall with this Ram after doing a ton of research to find RGB Ram that used B2 binned Samsung Ram chips, whatever that means.

I'm not sure what the B2 means, but binned chips are usually how well they do. For instance, an Intel chip that bins poorly may be labeled an i3 or i5, while a good one will become an i7.

I don't really use my rig for gaming, so my DDR3 ram is 1866 I believe. My storage is probably the bottleneck for what I use it for.

I think memory chips are binned by revision kind of how CPUs have stepping. Over time the manufacturer changes there process for the exact same chip construction. Memory is apparently binned that way as well as binned by speed from what I understand. One set of identical specification Ram may very well be running a differently manufactured chip, which is usually not a problem except with Ryzen apparently. It only likes certain Ram chips. From what I've read this was a problem too when Intel came out with the Core2 chips. New designs don't always behave the same as the specs the previous Ram was built for.

Nothing much. Since I started playing music again I loaded up a bunch of software for studio stuff/recording.
Ez drummer 2, studio one, some other daws.
My 4k tv is my main tv in the game room so if I want to sim, I have to carry that biotch over to my sim area. I've pulled my lat twice now doing that.

No upgrades to the comp itself. A few years old now and still par with some newer systems.

Did I ever get you on my steam list?

Actually, I own the game, but I don't have a proper wheel and pedal setup, which, is imperative to play this game, correctly... yet. :D

I have proper wheel and pedals, just havnt picked up corsa 7 yet. I don't think steam carries it so I'll have to find out who does.
