Not much, unfortunately. Mostly slushy snow that turned the roads to ice. It's still around, but the roads are mostly dry, except the residential streets and parking lots that are all ice still. I was HOPING for 20cm as forecasted, but we only got maybe 10-15cm and given how wet it was, not much of anything.

How do you Like the MTR's? I have a set of KM2s, but I am changing rim size. I like the KM2's (not many miles on them and even less off road miles) but I also really dig the look of the MTRs.

You have the 3.4l and I assume stock 4.10 gears? How does it drive on the road? Looks like it does just fine off road. I will soon have my 4.7 running and I will be switching back to a 4.10 ratio.

I freakin love the mtr's! Im kicking myself now for not buying them sooner. Everything from heavy rock, shale rock, mud and even snow, they have out performed any other tire I've owned. They've been wearing pretty well to considering I'm only running a 7" wide wheel. I've aired down to 5lbs now on 2 occasions and haven't had a single issue with beads popping.

As for the 3.4 and the 4:10's it's surprisingly good. I kick OD off on the highway and cruise 60mph no problem at 25-2600rpm. I don't have a need to go any faster than that, and If I do, I can still use over drive. I was really worried at first reading all these horror stories of people saying to re gear for the auto and 35's with 4:10's.

It's all bullshit lol. It does extremely well with the 4:10's. Would it be nice to have 5:29's or even 4:88's and a crawl box for the heavy rock like in Moab...Yes. Am i going to go to they extreme. Heck no. A good sized tranny cooler to keep the temps under control. And your good. Especially for the trail system we have up here. With that healthy V8 your putting in, you'll have plenty torque to get your way around! I'm jealous!! Hahah

That's good to hear. At 1st I wasn't sure if I liked the look the MTR tread pattern, but the longer I look, the more I like. I cant really decide if I want to step up to the 35s either. Your truck looks awesome... I have been running 33s since the day I lifted my truck. I ran 2 sets of Pro Comp mud terrain from the nipples down to slicks and have to say they where great. Then I picked up the KM2, which are bigger than the pro comps, even though the side wall said they where the same. The KM2 rub the fire wall a lot more than the pro comps ever did... I have the pinch welds knocked back, but still... Im not the best with sheet metal and honestly I am a little worried about cutting away at the floor pan... Seems odd I would say that huh? v8 swap and all... Very little sheet metal was harmed in that whole process...

I love your Tacoma. I LOVE red trimmed in black, and I was actually looking for a set of 16s like you have, but they seem to be a bit rare... 15s are a dime a dozen around here...

Yea the sheet metal work can be a little nerve racking at first. Considering you can potentially burn your truck down lol. But once you've done it a few times and start to learn little tricks in order to keep the welds from burning through it actually goes pretty fast.

Go 35's and the V8! That'd be awesome

Quick question - do you have your front sway bar on still?

Just re-read the whole thread and from some pics, it appears that you've taken your sway bar off. How was the truck on the highway when you went out to BC for Thanksgiving?

I took my sway bar off, and then put it back on, and now I'm debating taking it off again. The bar hits my All Pro skid plate on almost every little bump and it's driving me insane. Just worried that the extra rolling at highway speed could get me into an accident, especially since I'll be heading to Kelowna for Christmas.

And snow! We're getting loads of it, but probably not as much as you guys! Still, snow!

I'll have to come down this summer with some other Edmonton guys and meet up with you and James (met James once before already) and have you two show us TOTW, etc!

I do not have the front sway bar on. It was the very first thing I did to the truck hahaha. I didn't even unbolt it, I cut it in half with the grinder. True IFS. The highway driving isn't bad at all. Yea it has some body roll to it, but it's not that bad.

Now doing "evasive" manoeuvres on the highway at highway speeds can be fun. I was driving home from work one evening and a table chair had fallen out of the back of a pickup on deer foot. I thought about trying to "avoid" it, then said to myself...naaaa. I just plowed right through it. Let the skids do the work haha. Could have I avoided it...o yea. I just wanted to see the chair in my rear view mirror explode into a thousand little pieces hahaha. It may have been a little scary at that speed with all the traffic, but it's not like your running a full on buggy with 14" coilovers doing 110 on the highway lol. I say take it off and enjoy being able to stuff tires over obstacles and have a true IFS system.

As for the meet in the spring, that sounds great! I'm sure there'll be quiet a few people itching to get back out!

The front bumper is the All-Pro tube bumper. I'm not sure how much shipping is, I bought it through a local shop in town that carries All-Pro. It's been cut up since I purchased it in order to fit the 35's. I took 4" off the length of the sides as well as shaved and capped the handles off both sides.

Went wheeling again today. The day started out at -20 here in okotoks then gradually got cooler as I got closer to the mountains. Got down to -22 out there without the windchill. Freakin cold morning, but fun non the less. Went out early around 6am as I was bored and the new puppy had me up all night:D

Early morning pictures are my favourite

My drivers side 5100 had pissed out all the fluid a while back, so Bilstien Canada hooked me up with a new one before the weekend. Had to break it in with some Baja'n

Met up with some friends around 9am and we headed out. We didn't really have a plan on where we were headed, more less just out to enjoy a nice Sunday drive. It was insanely slippery....on the verge of not being safe. Every little hill posed a challenge and on a few occasions we found ourselves either hooked to the winch or turning around

All in all it was a great day. One of only 2 more weekends this wheeling location is open until it is closed for winter. Gotta get it in before it's back to the pretty mundane trails of wiaparous. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this week is cold enough to freeze the large puddles of Fisher East. Next weekend is going to be great!!
