We got the snow today! First time I've had to use the 4x4 in my truck was on my way home from school today. That cold is supposed to make its way down to us this Friday. Not looking forward to it!

Fuck I wish it was 4wd. But it's not. It does have some killer winter tires on it though. I just bought 4 clip boards from Staples to make into mud flaps. Rally armor style :D

It's a new design from SpeedDemon LED light bars. There testing the new 10W Cree chips in a different housing, hence why the reflectors are 3 times the size of a normal light bar. It's effin bright. For a ridiculous price, because my old housing was starting to fad from the sun. These new ones are powder coated crinkle black. I'm super happy with it

So this talk of optimal rpm range and O/D off got me curious. It was great at lower speeds like 55 and was at 24-2500 but when I hit 70 I was tach'ing 3100 rpms! Def didn't feel sluggish like normal when on the back roads at home but I don't see how mpg's could improve with those numbers on the highway. I normally run 70-75 at ~2300 rpms with O/D on.

    your not regeared tho right?

    3100 on 4.10s and 33s is gonna destroy you mpgs...i know this..haha

but running in the 2400-2800 isn't that bad. Especially when you have regeared so the work load on the motor is easier.

Yes, this is because your on 33's. I'm on 35's. Hence why my rpm's are lower with overdrive off and doing 55-60mph. When I hit 65-70 mph im up around 28-3000 range

I'm on 31's... haha. I see what you're saying. I was just wondering because I drive 38 miles highway to get to work and don't like the idea of doing 3k for 40 min straight lol

Rpm is not the killer, load and throttle input is. My 87 4runner had 5.29 ob 33s. At 70 it was turning 3300-3500 range. But its only getting 7-10% throttle. With my GPS it was getting around 21 mpg. There is fine balance in what makes good mpg. The roads you drive also play a big roll. Highway vs city, mixed.
