Damn!!! That's way more than I've even thought about! But smart to carry espicially on a trip that long!

Yea man. A person would be pretty dumb not to take anything less IMO on a trip like that. It would have made me feel a lot better to have a spare rear ring and pinion. But I took it easy:)

Head to a junk yard and start pulling spare parts haha. Like tie rod ends. Those are super easy to take off. Just bring a small torch and heat the inner and outer till it's literally smoking hot. Bust them loose with a pipe wrench and crescent wrench. Upper and lower BJ's you can purchase new for cheap. Driveshaft....find one and re build it with new joints.

I Can't even imagine how much it would have sucked to break bad on Dusy. Run all the way into town then all the way back out to the truck on the trail. That literally would have been hell.

Spoonman and I are extremely mechanically inclined to say the least. He's a tech for a living and I have been around trucks and cars since I could walk. Plus I build custom homes for a living, so when it comes to figuring shit out....we make a quick efficient team. It took us an hr to fix his lower uni ball. ONLY because it was 10000 fucking degrees. So we'd work for 5 minutes then bust out the r/c crawlers and chill in the shade with the dog haha.

If you plan on a trip like that, my advise is know who your going with really well. Know their breaking points when it comes to wheeling (mentally and physically is what I mean). Know that when you need a spot, they understand your truck and what it's going to do and vice versa. I know Jamie's truck is massive in the sense of width and length. So when I spotted him through trees or rocks, his line was totally different from mine, and not once did he question weather or not I was going to fuck his truck. And same went to me. If I needed a spot, I'd watch him instead the tires outside of the truck. That's what made us so efficient, and I would like to think, less damage.

In a nut shell...team work lol. Could each of us done both the Rubicon and Dusy on are own. Most definitely. Was it more fun with 2? Yes. Would I do it again? Fuck ya. We are pLanning on it already haha.

Kind of a long read, but hopefully that helps ya with the essentials of a long "hardcore" trip like that.

Yeah, thanks!! Y'all have really thought that out, to do much hard core stuff I have to travel a good ways too. Espicially for all the more famous trails like Moab, rubicon, and dusy. Hoping to make Moab next year but I'll just have to see. Are you planning to go to any different places?

I guess I'm going to have to try and find a tacoma in a junk yard around here... I don't foresee that happening though lol

How long does it take you to get to Rubicon?

love the truck and the rubicon story. Might have missed it but what axle do you want to run when the SAS goes into affect? How many km you have on the truck, I keep looking for a decent used first gen but hard to find

I think Spoonman and I owe Goodyear a massive thank you. 3200 miles driven in 10 days. Altitudes ranging from 342ASL to 10320ASL. Not a single tire failure or hick up the entire trip. I ran 10psi on the trail for both Dusy and Rubicon, and not once did I have doubts these MTR's weren't going to get me home. Not to sure what Jamie ran for pressure, but there were numerous times I saw tires folded in half between both are trucks. Especially on his...running the bead locks. No rips, tears, or punctures. Dusy Ershim was EXTREMELY hard on tires. My tars got pretty shredded and definitely look like they went through hell and back

    Well done Goodyear! Well done....

How many km have you put on the Tires? Just got mine on last night and will be logging about 300 miles on em this week end. Got me a little worried about tire life

I have about 40 000km on mine. Still have 50% left. It's just the lugs and side walls are cut up pretty good. They were pretty bad before Dusy. Dusy just made them worse haha. You should see spoonmans tires. They were 100% fresh before we left. His lugs and side walls look like hell after just one trip haha. It's actually pretty impressive!

you guys are like a dynamic duo! haha. I wish I had more mechanically inclined friends. But I honestly wouldn't let any of them touch my truck with a wrench, haha.
